I rather hope that's right. Holland and London are in the shit if the Greenland ice does melt.
That's part of the problem, though. These are very complicated systems that aren't completely understood. There seems to be a fair bit of evidence that dumping a load of carbon dioxide that left the atmosphere during the Jurassic isn't doing us any favours, though.

It's funny that the "warmers" try to claim that the seas are "rising" when none other than the Army Corps of Engineers will tell you that all those islands and peninsulas down in Louisiana are *Sinking!*

Not really Popeye, since something sinking in water will displace its own weight. Watch your bath water rise as you sink into it. [;)]

Actually it displaces its volume, not its weight.

Moonhead -> RE: Climategate (12/9/2009 4:48:47 PM)

If we're picking nits, I think it displaces its mass, particularly if we're talking about something that shrinks as it thaws like water.

Riki, yes, 1,200 limosines from what I heard on the news yesterday.
They "ran out" of Limosines in Denmark so they've had to drive them in from Germany, Holland etc.
Any news lately on the doin's of "The Flat Earth Society" in Denmark as of yet?
My congressman's staffers are going to get an earfull from me!

Actually sweetie it was a snarky remark in response to all the snarky comments on the mode of travel. These are heads of state driving through highly charged crowds, in the interest of safety and to preserve the sanctity of their office of course they are going to ride in limos...duhhhhhhhhh.

still volume even if it floats, just the volume of the submersed portion.

FR:

It wasn't the top story, and Charlie Gibson put a lot of emphasis on the word "stolen" in the lead, but ABC had this story tonight on the national news broadcast.  It might make a good dissection candidate if the bias thread ever gets the heart transplant, but I thought it was worth a mention here.

Just shy of three weeks.  Better late than never, I suppose.

They've never heard of teleconferencing then. Their mindsets are still practically in the stone age, and they're supposed to save us all from ourselves...

Well of course, since no two materials can occupy the same space at the same time ..... I hope that rule still applies, although lovers often attempt to violate the physics of it :)

Soros: Climate financing dispute could wreck talks

COPENHAGEN – The $10 billion a year proposed by rich nations to help the poor adapt to climate change is "not sufficient" and the gap between what's offered and what's needed could wreck the Copenhagen climate conference, American billionaire George Soros said Thursday.

At a European Union summit in Brussels, meanwhile, wealthier members of the 27-nation bloc were having to press poorer, reluctant neighbors in Eastern Europe to contribute to the $10 billion fund.

"Europe should take its fair share" of the $5 billion to $7 billion a year target sum for 2010-2012, said Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, whose country holds the EU's rotating presidency.

The EU is expected to announce later Thursday the amount of money it will offer to impoverished, developing nations. Britain has said it will contribute $1.3 billion over three years, and Sweden will give euro800 million ($1.2 billion). German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Germany would contribute but gave no figure.

I know that Al Gore is set to make billions off of their Global Warming scheme, but I'll bet its nothing at all next to what Soros is hoping to make.

Every year Yahoo News runs a few stories of African "Kings" and their families flying to London in private jets to go on an orgy of spending on luxury goods right after they get their "foreign aid checks!"
And yes, they buy mink coats, to wear in Africa!
If this nonsense in Copenhagen reaches fruition something tells me we'll be seeing more of those stories.
What do they think is going to happen when they give *our* money to third world countries?
Anyone know if Mercedes Benz and Rolls Royce have booths at the Flat Earth Society Convention, I mean "junket" in Copenhagen?

the other one is laying it on evil "hackers". AFAIK they still havent determined the source, and an insider is more likely than a hacker. Any update on that?
