I used to lay flat on my stomach on a heating pad, then go to sleep. When I woke up, they'd be gone. A hot cup of tea and a couple of Motrin/Advil/Ibuprofin (all the same thing) can work wonders, as can this acupressure treatment that you can do yourself: Find your ankle bone on the inside of your leg, the round one that sticks out right above your foot. Lay four fingers directly above it, the first finger should be right beside it, not on top of it. Where the fifth finger would go, take your thumb and press hard on that spot for one minute. Repeat it on the other leg. Then back and forth alternating legs a time or two. This actually works most of the time. If the cramps come back, do it again.
