Sanity, have you ever viewed domiguy's profile?

I guess I don't assume pink fairies or animated dogs are talking to me.  Just saying.

It does seem to me that some good threads and discussions go sideways pretty quickly right now - and never get back on track.  That said, i haven't been here very long and they are often topics i'm sure you folks that have been here a significant amount of time have discussed ad nauseum.  So perhaps it is more interesting to have the chaos.

My general rule of thumb is the old Robert Heinlein quote: "Never try to teach a pig to sing.  It wastes your time and annoys the pig."  If someone really just isn't getting what is trying to be said to them, i don't see much value in trying to belabor the same points over and over.  There was a thread in the Gor forum recently (yes, that one) that seemed to last forever before a Mod finally said "enough."

And Jeffff (is that enough "f"'s?), you and your cohorts make me laugh out loud every day.  It's been a ton of fun to read while i've been home sick with the nastiest virus i've ever had.  i hope you guys never get "moderated away."

julie

Damn, I thought it died a natural death...didn't see the last mod post.  I'd rather see 'em die on the vine through natural causes.

Ditto the previous remark about bondage.com's boards.  I was on there a year ago and it just purely sucked.  All names, no substance.

Well i should be clear and say that that thread wasn't shut down, just a strongly worded warning.  But that seems to have done the trick.  i was amazed it went on as long as it did though.

And ditto times 3 on the b.com boards.  So far this is much more fun, hope it stays that way.

I am relatively new on these boards and I have had to go through a learning curve but I am starting to feel at home. I don't much like the name calling but I do like the freedom of expression. I really enjoy the give and take and I am grateful as hell for all the funny stuff and the stuff I learn a lot about. I am surprised at how frank some are at calling someone out for saying stupid stuff, but I approve of that also. This is a terrific site. Just my 2 cents.

She hates hearing about it, but on my very first post here, KatyLied called me a baby..:)

It caused me to sit back and watch a little. When I felt the pace I jumped back in. Fuck her!...:)

She is much ...softer now .. I miss the old Katy...:).. and fucking Aileen is soooooooo in love it makes me wanna puke.

It can seem cliquish here, but if you aren't a total dumbass, you can find a place.

Jeff

I have been glad to have seen some people back the past week.

I have always thought the moderation policy a bit too 1-2-3 simplistic. There are people that misbehave every third post, whereas others err once or twice per thousand posts. I have always been of the opinion that moderation ought to reflect this frequency difference.

On the other hand in my case - as for some other people - the moderation has also been somewhat lenient.

Most people can find a way to work it out among themselves or ignore each other. I would encourage the fine folks who operate Collar Me to let it continue.

These are your boards. We are here to make sure things don't go against the TOS.

There is always a moderator or two around and you should feel free to message us when you need.

On that note, happy and healthy New Year to you all!

I own a small yahoo group where everyone is a mod.  It works.

I also mod a silver board- where 1/2 the board is a mod.  that gets crazy when there is a spat.  we have had a few. it happens.

if someone has a bad day try to look past it.  yet when their sole purpose in life is making people mad- then they need to be confronted.

I made mistakes of deleting on the other board. I no longer delete unless it is a must- as people get all upset over a missing thread.

There is a rumor going around that domi was not only asked to come back but was paid to do so. Site traffic was in decline and folks were leaving for that other site out of boredom.

Now, it seems, the feared and omnipresent 11 no longer goes to 11, hovering at about 7, losing turgidity, as it were.

Yes, I think it's clear that domi and 11 have a thang goin' on. Perhaps it will usher a Camelot time of Lenny Bruce-like freedom of expression. One can only hope.

"Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days Of Our Lives..."

Seriously, I remember a much more self-disciplined board 5 years ago. Right now, everything seems all over the place, so much so as I actually lost my nerve, something I'm not exactly impressed with myself for. But I am human (go figure!) and I'll just focus on starting threads that address real issues, get people thinking and evolving. For those who want trashy threads, there will be plenty to go around.

Advice to all: once you become too concerned with what is going on in CM and not enough in your own life, it's time for a break. I don't mean this as a slight to anyone. I speak from personal experience 4.5 years ago.

Yeah, anyone is free to get into a pissing match with anyone else here. Problem is when there's eight pages of posts and all but one or two are people pissing on each other. It gets to be a big waste of time, and there's no way to weed out the meaningful content from the BS.
