LadyEllen, didn't you hear? We Jews are a very kinky bunch, and aggressive, so we like to take over sites like this one. Gives us more places to talk alot with our hands.[sm=line.gif]

LadyEllen -> RE: Too Far? (1/12/2010 12:35:44 PM)

Talking with your hands? Are you saying that all Jewish people originate from north Worcestershire? 'cause it sure dont seem like the promised land to me!

That was funny! But some may find it tasteless. I dunno? Some are more sensitive than others. I think most of the time the only ethnic jokes that are funny is your own race. We are allowed to poke fun of ourselves.

Roses are redish,
Violets are blueish,
If it wasn't for Jesus,
We'ld all be Jewish. [:)]

The line is very diffuse. It is very much about where and i what forum it is said. I have for years been doing bussiness with jewish bussinessmen and certainly they where the ones to come up with the crassest jewish jokes i ever heard. It was a thing i admired them for, that ability to laugh at things which really was horrible. The holocaust was certainly not spared among them. Neither am I in any doubt about their real feelings about it.
I personally, in the early seventies, visited Auschwitz. It was a profound experience. I never believed in spirits or ghosts, but feeling that evilnes which emanated from that place was just something else. A very sobering experience.

Excellent point.  There aren't even standards for good taste in any one community.

Old adage:  Two Jews, three opinions

LadyE, you shicksa, sure we're all Jewish in here! Didn't you know that this is a (Jewish) B&D site? we should put up a sign though. "Welcome Goyim!"
My Jewish doctor loves my jokes and calls me "Shecky Green."

LadyEllen -> RE: Too Far? (1/12/2010 1:45:55 PM)

So it was almost true all along? The Jews are conspiring, but for a Lewd World Order? Today CM, tomorrow the world!?

There is no line that cannot be crossed.  We are all mortal we all die.

Here we go....This is not going to go over well but what the fuck...

There is a thread going on about the demise of Spinner of Tales. Saw him out here a time or two and he seemed like a real decent fellow.

My gut reaction was to simply post, ..."I am glad that he is dead."

In actuality there is nothing further form the  truth.  I just think that is horrible.  It is so awful it is funny.

I am sick. I need help or at least a decent blowjob.

Nobody can draw the line. If they could there would be so many lines we wouldn't know what to do. The alternative is to grow a skin, or toughen up the one you have. There are probably a few among us who can help with that.

Oh shit, I just made a joke about kinksters. Shall I be boiled in oil ? Lemme see, lines all over the place. Jew jokes, holocaust bad foreskin good, got it. Black jokes, must remember the new spelling of the Nword. Then there was one about Hitler and Mussolini, testing a new machine. Throws Jews in and they are disintegrated. After ten he throws in an Italian, Hitler says "How come you do that, kill your own people ?" to which Mussolini replied "You gatta greasa the machine". Who was the butt of that joke ?

Then we have the Irish pub jokes. If you haven't heard a couple of them you have been living in a vacuum. With today's political climate, Arab jokes seem to be in vogue. Is that OK ? Some Arab jokes are pretty nasty, even by my standards. I love a good Polak joke, but the one about flushing the punch bowl is simply without merit. But it's no worse than joking about what Arabs might be doing with their left hand.

Joking about the retarded, well maybe they can laugh at themselves as well, maybe not. But then consider the ever popular Darwin Awards. Why then is that OK ?

Perhaps instead of drawing lines all day, we might consider the application of some common sense and decency. Oh wait, I forgot what planet I am on here for a second.

HAHA, now everybody on the planet is the butt of one of my jokes. Get that BIG deepfryer warmed up.

SDFemDom4cuck -> RE: Too Far? (1/12/2010 3:17:12 PM)

I can see where things would be thought offensive by someone that has a personal connection with a particular issue that might be joked about by an individual. It is not that I do not have the ability to empathize. To censor though then brings the question of how to censor some things but not others. Where is the line of censorship drawn then? Regardless of what anyone might say there is always the possibility that someone will be offended by it. While it may seem innocuous to us as a whole, that may not be the case for everyone.

At one time I could very easily be offended by certain things being joked about. What those things are doesn't really matter. Whether the words said were intentionally meant to be offensive or not wasn't the issue. They simply offended me because of my personal relationship to those issues.

I have since finally come to the conclusion that words are simply that..just words. They only have the power that we as individuals allow them to have over us as individuals.

There are still certain words that make me uncomfortable but like someone else said I have the ability to hit that little red X up in the right hand corner. I have the ability to shut off the PC and walk away or ignore. Over all though I simply see them as words on the screen and they have no power to affect/effect me unless I allow them to do so.

All I can say is that this apple pie crust is da bomb!!

So light and flakey and heavenly

kittinSol -> RE: Too Far? (1/12/2010 3:17:48 PM)

Did you actually see the thread this particular one is a spinoff from?

And... if you don't mind my saying... most of us haven't forgotten how you feel about 'the Jews'.

Hi... every single time there is a discussion of this kind on these boards, people object to censorship. I'd like to point out that nowhere was censorship advocated.

It's just that certain individuals seem unable to exert self-censorship, which is a completely different matter... suffice to say that their potty training probably leaves a lot to be desired too, in the light of their logorrhea *sigh*.

Jeffff -> RE: Too Far? (1/12/2010 3:26:08 PM)

Censorship was never  part of my thinking. Actually neither was the other thread. I was ..... kind of interested in peoples response. In how they rationalize what they found funny.

It was pretty much unsatisfactory, to be honest. But thats ok, I had the  time anyway..:)

SDFemDom4cuck -> RE: Too Far? (1/12/2010 3:28:57 PM)

I didn't say that it was advocated, it was however brought up by the OP in a subsequent post as well as by others. I was simply giving my opinion on censorship in general.

Whether or not someone else has the ability to censor themselves is out of our control. We are all still responsible for our own actions and reactions; whether it is what we say ourselves or how we choose to react to what has been said by another.

heartcream -> RE: Too Far? (1/12/2010 3:30:02 PM)

Reminds me of the time I moved in with my new boyfriend and he was Jewish. I came from a part of town that had like one Jewish family.

My vocabulary expanded immediately. All his friends, and it seemed like simply everyone was now Jewish, except me. They had mammoth, mammoth homes. Each one like a fairy tale, I was amazed beyond.

Me to my then bf's freind: What does it mean when you call me a shiksa?"

Him: "It means you have about as much soul as a white bread sandwich and a jar of mayonnaise."

Many years later I moved to New York and worked with Israeli Jews and had a whole nother experience.

Then there was the time I walked into a women's bookstore and picked up a book about nuns. It blew my mind. It was about how they are lesbians.

I had two nun aunts and I got so freaked out and squicked standing there. It had not ever occured to me before. I mean, so obvious but went right by me.

As far as crossing the line, I think humor is humor and if it is really funny. Context, delivery and even intent makes a difference. I dont think there is anything you cannot kid about but how, where, when you do it is whether the joke flies or ends up causing pain, is innappropriate etc.

I mean there are some things that sting so very much but they are still funny.

Pure ignorance is hardly funny when delivering a prejudicial/abusive joke.

Absolutey. That's also why it's more than okay to take it upon oneself to vociferously object to pure arse cuntery such as the one we witnessed on the other thread earlier today. Fuck it: I'm not going to be all PC with ugly dorm-style crassness just to placate the wanker that came up with the joke. And if they're unable to realise why they were wrong (most probably out of stubborness and self-righteous narcisissim), I shall charge a second time, for good measure :-) .
