Thanks for putting this up. I've been kind of casting around looking for a project. Now I have one.

If you were asking me, I'd be happy to. I'm going to go get the supplies I need on the way home. Maybe make it for a surprise.

I havent finished it... but I plan on getting a picture of it because I need advice on how long to make the lashes...

I am very excited about this, but every once in a while i get this pesky thought run through my head that says "what if he doesnt like it?" or "is it wrong for a sub to make her own flogger for her Dom?"

I also made a really pretty necklace today out of rope... i'll post pictures of that in the craft/artisan section in a little bit :)

If you are working in rope, I followed Sir Raymond's plans, It turned out VERY nice. I dyed the rope purple and half the cord I used on the handle I dyed purple too. Very nice effect. I actually did it in just a couple of hours from start to finish. The longest part was letting the dyed strands of robe dry.

The lashes on mine are about 2 1/2 feet long roughly.

I'll put up some photos as soon as I find my camera (mutters to self wondering WHERE I left it this time...LOL)

All toys, can be used in a varity of ways, I have some rope floggers that are knoted 3-4 inches from the tips.  The ends are allowed to fray.  The tails of these floggers, depending on how much of the tails are allowed to strike, can be the whispy frayed rope or the thuddy knots.

I was told over the weekend that its kind of special to have a toy you've made yourself used on you.

For dying at home without a washer and dryer, you can hand wash in a bucket (don't use the kitchen sink) and dry in the oven (provided you don't set it too hot and melt the nylon, I suggest just the warm setting that most have.)  If you are worried about the oven, use a blow dryer on the hottest setting.  It may take a while but mostly it's the heat needed to set the dye.

Very interesting topic, I've seen a few "How-To's" for leather floggers, first time seeing a rope flogger. Kudos.

Glad to hear all went well with your flogger! I remember making my first leather flogger. I learned really quick that it takes time and practice to do it right, make it look the way you want and figure out different stuff that will look nice/feel nice, lol. I have made three rope floggers myself. All of my mine I used Nylon rope (because Master and I bought way too much to play with). The first one I made I kept white and is quite thick and has knots about half way down the strains and frayed at the ends. Which gives some nice little looks to my butt when some good wacks. The second one I made Is not quite as thick but all frayed. Master actually uses that one for "back rubs" for me, quiet relaxing! And the third one is at the dump some place because it was the first time I tried dyeing the rope back when we had a room mate and he was quite nosey. And its not very easy trying to come up with a reason for dyeing rope, so I screwed it up.

But one thing I will say about dying the rope is that if the rope is twisted when you dye it, and then you untwist it later, any place where the rope was "covered" in the twists will be mainly white and not dyed. Have fun with future projects and can't wait to see pictures!!!

I will see what I can do about getting pictures of my two up. I am actually working on another, maybe I can sneak that in a picture too, depending on how fast I can do it.

Thankies for the compliment, MsM! They are really easy to make with the link I posted earlier in the thread.
Three of the five were gifts for special folks here on the forums, the other two live in my toybag.

ETA- I also made a matched set of white ones as a Christmas gift for Mercnbeth the year before last. It cracked me up when beth came out on Superbowl Sunday dressed as a cheerleader.... with the floggers in place of pom-poms!

I used a large glass bowl, some very hot water and a package of Purple Rit Dye. It worked beautifully, the bowl didn't stain and the color turned out Great.
