I used to suffer something similar for many years

For many woman fluid can be trapped in the lymph glands or milk ducts   and can cause a lot of swelling and pain ... its quite a common occurance due to changes in hormones ....

massage can  be very very usefull in helping gently drain the fluid out ... especially if you do it before it builds up each month ..for me I did it several times over the couple of days b efopre my period .. and during .... I didnt have a chance to check but if you google lymph drainage  or lymph massage ... you mind find sugestions and diagrams on how best to do it ... I was trained by a very good massage therapist

You can do it to yourself although its quite lovely to have someone else do it for you .... basicaly you use all the fingers/palm of your hands and either with oils, corn starch (corn starch is great but it does make a mess ) or whilst in the shower ... in gentle but even (a level of firmness is required  but not rough ) strokes .... from the center wall between your breasts follow the curve on top and then on the bottom to the center under your arm... so its not directly  across your breast  but following the natural curves above and below  and you are not pressing into your chest... but more into the breast  flesh .... then down the side of your ribs .... so you are helping to manual stimulate the drainage of fluids using the lymph pathways

I prefer laying down whilst its being done .... and a good walk after wards really helps as it stimulates the lymph system to get rid of the extra fluids

hope you find a solution that suits you

I have had that problem intermittently, I have used either a hot water bottle or a heating pad on my aching breasts... it really eases the pain for me.

our modern version of a bra was originally designed to flatten the breasts into a mono-bosom--- the fashion of the day was straight lines, and society couldn't bear to even think about breasts, much less see them defined under clothing.

Society's concept of the "ideal" breasts are breasts that would remain in their firm, uplifted attitude, on their own, for our entire lives. Advertising and messages in today's media have done a good job of convincing us of that myth, and the myth that breasts will sag unless we "properly support" them. The point to remember is that they will assume a more relaxed, adult position whether they are supported OR NOT! Some breasts never seem to reach that lower, relaxed position, even into a woman's sixth decade of life. This phenomenon is not a result of constant bra usage. Bras will not prevent that from happening.

Wearing a bra may be cancer causing "breast abuse".

quote:

...Singer and Grismaijer studied 4,500 women in five cities across the U.S. about their bra wearing habits and later published their findings in a book "Dressed to Kill". Though the study did not take into account other lifestyle factors, the results are too striking to be denied:

3 out of 4 women who wore their bras 24 hours per day developed breast cancer.

1 out of 7 women who wore bras more than 12 hour per day but not to bed developed breast cancer.

1 out of 152 women who wore their bras less than 12 hours per day got breast cancer.

1 out of 168 women who wore bras rarely or never acquired breast cancer.

Other studies done by Singer and Grismaijer include:
quote:

A study of the Maori, the indigenous people of New Zealand, which found that after they were integrated into the white culture, they now wear bras, and they now share the same breast cancer rates as that of the white population. Breast cancer was literally non-existent before they changed their style of dress.

A study of the Aborigines of Australia (the ones who have not joined the white population and culture, and do not wear bras - or much of anything else) which found that they have virtually no breast cancer, nor have they ever had any. Breastnotes.com

this slave feels your pain...she also has hormonal issues that cause engorgement and severe pain, for weeks at a time. even lifting her arms during that time is painful. Victoria's Secret used to have a sportsbra called the Aftershock that was good for holding icy-cold gel packs in place for a little relief, but they no longer have them.

best wishes to you.[:)]

I too suffer from endometriosis.

Cacique makes a plunge bra that is designed to lift the girls and give great cleavage. This bra has a small pocket for air-filled pouches to be inserted. Removing the pouches allows for breast swelling, inserting the pouches give a boost when the swelling is down. Additionally, you can substitute the air pouches with cold or warm pouches (those you'd have to customize yourself, I sometimes put small ice packs in the pockets).

They tend to run a litle on the high side price wise, but perhaps Sassybax would have something similar to the bralette you liked?

Thank you, beth. [:D] And oh goodness, don't i know. i got my girls young, and i don't think they were ever perky.
No bra will ever defy nature.
Bras do help me when they take away from weighing down from the tops of the breasts, so long as it doesn't feel like the bra is trying to compress the boobs into my ribs.
i hope that makes sense.[&:]

NormalOutside -> RE: Bra suggestions ? (1/30/2010 7:23:32 PM)

OP: Can see please see pics? jk :)
I've never let my girls wear bras around the house, and only very rarely out of the house. I find them ugly and in the way, and can't imagine having to strap your chest down all day every day could be very enjoyable.

FelineFae -> RE: Bra suggestions ? (1/30/2010 7:46:45 PM)

i know a pretty alternative for around the house, even for wondering out to check the mail, but it doesn't work for say going to grocery shop.
* Take a long scarf, place middle in center of back,
* Cross in front between girls,
* Tie halter style behind neck.
This makes nice "slings" to conceal and support a little. It takes weight off the upper chest, but just moves it to the neck. It gives a break to the upper chest, but doesn't really solve the issue. It's pretty though.

I would go to the grocery store in that! Then again, I have also been known to go to the grocery store in my favorite pajamas, so maybe I'm not the best one to make that determinations, lol.

I have very few bras that are comfortable for an entire day and quite honestly can't stand wearing them. It's one of the first things that comes off when I enter the house. Personally, I think bras and high heels were invented by men as a means to punish women for something. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the eye popping cleavage I can get from a bra and I am a dedicated shoe whore (who currently can't wear anything but sneakers, boo hoo). But damn those underwires that give me the cleavage and the pain from those high heels.

FelineFae -> RE: Bra suggestions ? (1/30/2010 8:53:25 PM)

Lol, it seems there is always a trade-off.

CalifChick -> RE: Bra suggestions ? (1/30/2010 9:52:52 PM)

I would definitely check out nursing bras.  At my house, when the milk fairy came to visit, she came in a HUGE way.  The kind of nursing bra that worked for me unhooked above the cup.  There were 3 or 4 hooks on the strap above the cup, and hooking higher made the cup smaller.

I think this is the one that I used (it's been several years now):  http://www.queen-lingerie.com/ff93201x.html
It says "3 step adjustable cups" in the description.

Absolutely....and add pantyhose to the list. I just can't figure out what we could have done that warrants such punishment....and this coming from a masochist.

Spyke1985 -> RE: Bra suggestions ? (1/31/2010 10:37:51 AM)

Personally I don't wear a bra unless it's to some fancy even that I have to wear a dress to, or to a date. And I haven't had one of either of those in years. My fiancee and I never went on dates, we just kind of fell in together and went from there lol.
It seems like you've gotten some wonderful suggestions, and I wish you the very best of luck in your search [:)]

When ya got a rack like mine, you'll practically give yourself  a nosebleed without a bra!

angelikaJ -> RE: Bra suggestions ? (2/1/2010 5:50:03 AM)

I think some of the sleep bras might be an option:

Thanks to everyone for your advice and help.
Master took me shopping yesterday, and we found success with a nursing sleep bra.
The store only carried it in white, so Master ordered me more ( in black ) online.

Thank you all. [:D]

If I do not wear a bra for more than a couple of hours it is painful for me... 36 DDs need support from my experience.. my chest is heavy.

sunshinemiss -> RE: Bra suggestions ? (2/2/2010 7:19:02 AM)

Have you contacted a bra store? The sales people there actually seem to know what they are doing, in my experience.

mnottertail -> RE: Bra suggestions ? (2/2/2010 7:31:47 AM)
