^ All the statisticians and scientists will tell you that true Doms don't read stuff like that.

I think it is a very valuable read for submissives looking for a dominant partner

Why?

Serious question.  There might be a dominant I respect who passes all those tests, but I can't think of one right off the bat.  What value did it have for you?  Answering that question would give your post, and your thread, more value, because then you would be speaking from personal experience, not just quoting generalities.

stella41b -> RE: Acid Test for True Dominants (2/2/2010 5:45:37 AM)

This has obviously been written by someone who thinks a blood test should be multiple choice.

lally2 -> RE: Acid Test for True Dominants (2/2/2010 5:58:27 AM)

my main problem with that is the suggestion that Dominance is all about sex, that its saying ONLY sexual Dominants are the real deal.

the thing with that is that not all submissives are all about being sexually submissive, they are not looking for just D/s in the bedroom, they are looking for someone who is in control outside of the bedroom too.

so, at best this is a perspective from one person who enjoys Dominance as a sexual vehicle. a newbie sub reading that, who is more into the psychological side of Ds could end up feeling a bit deflated.

i happen to like control freaks, they make me laugh, it amuses me enormously how they control things to their optimum advantage and continually get away with it, largly because they are very good at it and tend to win people over with their charm offensive. being a control freak is only offensive when its done in a selfish way. a D that says they want to take care of me and get me organised just tells me that they have their best interests at heart, but also mine too. whilst the chaos and disorganisation remains a factor it will always get in the way of our life. i need that help because i cant do that shit on my own, im pathetic like that [&o]

so an interesting read, and thank you for sharing, but i personally dont agree with the authors personal perspective and in the end thats what it is, a personal perspective based on their proclivities only.

Kana -> RE: Acid Test for True Dominants (2/2/2010 6:08:30 AM)

Hater my ass. I was actually nice, considering the content. I gave you the benefit of the doubt, assuming your intentions were good and you didn't know better.

My problems with your post:
1-I have been here for ages (The Kana profile is number two). I was on CM when LA still was head of BESS and lived in Maryland, for Gods sake. During that time once a week at least, some fool posts something along these lines and  after seeing the same old crap bang around forever it gets old. The arrogance in assuming that you are the first to run across something, especially something that has been rolling around the net since the beginning, is the height of presumption. Run a history check before posting-there really is little new under the sun. My bet is you could resurrect an old thread instead of starting one anew.
2-However, had the cited paper contained content of value, I would have stood by and said little. Unfortunately that was not the case here. The article itself is nearly devoid of useful content since it's basic premise is inherently false-Listen loud and clear-There is no one way to do TTTWD. Any time anyone suggests otherwise, they have revealed the depths of their idiocy. The rule, and the only one I have ever found that runs consistently throughout BDSM, is find what works for you and yours. As long as that works, the rest of the world can go to hell in a handbasket for all I care There is no such thing as one way, and hence, any one test. Your wimp may be someone else's dominant and vice versa.  C'mon-the author is attempting to cite statistics from anonymous sights, for Gods sake. Once that tripe is written, how can you take anything the author says with any form of credibility?
3-WTF are you to be all riding white knight to the rescue of all those poor people who you think may need to read this. Who appointed you their guardian and why exactly should those poor, little, vacuous, helpless submissive's listen to your drivel or some nonsense that you found? It's insulting and demeaning to suggest that they may need help when no evidence exists to the contrary and five minutes background investigation on the boards will reveal scads of smart, intelligent women who are quite capable of protecting themselves and will be quick to tell you that in no uncertain terms. Since when did submissive=stupid?
4-True Dominants, my ass.
5-Do you really think anyone who bothers to read the forums isn't fully aware that Collarme is a strange place populated by mutant species of life? You can't loiter on the boards for less than a week w/o encountering all the usual scare stories, sobbing tales, and wish I had listened tales.
6-Even accepting that I am wrong on all my other propositions, people learn from encountering adversity, we grow from experiencing failure, from getting up off the ground a little older, a little wiser, perhaps a little more self aware. I'm not trying to be crass, but yeah, the net is a sketchy place. Best that a new user finds that out real fast and learns to protect themselves. One bad experience is worth a thousand warnings. When we attempt to shield them, we are actually preventing them from learning and growing and developing protective habits that will serve them in good stead. Life is hard and real-who am I to prevent someone from learning a lesson that may one day save their life?
7-I would evaluate the article logically, but RS already went to the trouble and did so far better than I ever could. Tips hat.

Maybe you're new. Maybe you're intentions are good. Maybe you're some guy trolling, setting himself up as a wannabe expert. Shrugs. None of my business either way.
My original comment wasn't personal, so I hope you don't take it that way, nor is this meant to be construed as anything but a rebuttal. Hater...sure...but I'm an equal opportunity hater. I abhor idiocy and paternalism equally, regardless of race, class, age, creed. Worse, what really terrifies me isn't idiocy, but the blind assumption that people, read the teeming illiterate masses, are so blinded by stupidity that they need others to do their thinking and moral decreeing for them. The folks who think like that scare piss outta me.

Since it's obviously a handing out advice sort of day, here's some: When you post anything regarding true domination on a forum board here, prepare to get roasted. There are few better forum lighting rods than the infamous "One Twue Dom."

This rant is now concluded. You may now return to your regularly scheduled insanity....

So I am sitting hear reading an opinion that it's not all about sex from someone who's avatar is a bear getting a blow job. . . I do not disagree with what you said, it just struck me as really funny.

Riding bearback?

DomImus -> RE: Acid Test for True Dominants (2/2/2010 6:18:55 AM)

Most truthful statement in the entire manifesto:

"Passing all these tests is no guarantee either. "

Another load of manure:

"Various estimates and surveys have placed the ratio of real (i.e. natural) male sexual Dominants to female sexual submissives at about one to ten. However, a quick count in any given BDSM-oriented chat room would lead you to believe that male Doms outnumber the subs at about two to one. Now if there is actually only one male Dom for every ten female subs, that means that 19 out of the 20 "Doms" you see online have to be fakes. Keep this in mind. There is a 95% chance that any man you talk to online claiming to be a Dom is no such thing. This leads us to our first rule, a rule that all statisticians and scientists already know by heart: "When in doubt, throw it out!"

Not a cite to be found.

It was a good laugh, I'll give it that.

subonmission -> RE: Acid Test for True Dominants (2/2/2010 6:20:18 AM)

If you hold him under water and he drowns he is a true Dominant. If he doesnt he is fake.

ResidentSadist -> RE: Acid Test for True Dominants (2/2/2010 6:22:22 AM)

I heard that works for witches too.

Errr, isn't the first step of scientific methodology, "When it doubt, test it?"

Jeffff -> RE: Acid Test for True Dominants (2/2/2010 6:24:29 AM)

Various studies have found 64% of most people are full of shit.

That seems low to me...:)

Yeah.  At least you know you can stop reading at that point if you want to.  The author raised the "I'm making this up" flag early.

Seriously, everythingzen.  If you want to share something, share something of value -- about you.  Have you done BDSM after praying over a Tibetan prayer bowl?  I have.  How do you incorporate zen with kink?  Now that's interesting.

Jeffff -> RE: Acid Test for True Dominants (2/2/2010 6:26:09 AM)

If a submissive is gaged, does she make a sound when being flogged in a forest?

i think youre confusing the litmus test for witches and the acid test for D's. [:)]

the witch hunt didnt really work out too well for the innocent and since apparently the ratio of Dominants to subs is so depressing, drowning them would seem counter productive - and there are no innocent Dominants, so it wouldnt work anyway. just saying.... [:D]
