Ropesubby: Have you tried Black Cohosh ? Adding soy milk to your diet ? There are quite a few herbs that can alleve many of the perimenopausal symptoms. My own opinion is to stay away from the commercial preparations and use the actual herb, as a tea, or use it in it's extract form. You are more assured to getting a higher purity of the drug without the fullers. Note that you need to research your herbs before just starting taking them. They do have interactions with other drugs and other herbs, and in certain medical conditions, certain herbs should not be used. In the case of Black Cohosh, it should not be used if you have breast cancer or are pregnant. If you are really edgy, you could try Valerian Root, it works very well for anxiety and stress. Use it carefully and research it, or e mail me and I will send you info. Of course there is the hormonal replacement therapy which your Gyn could prescribe. I am not a big fan of HRT, but it is available for those who chose it. As for the menopause phase, it is my experience that the only uncomfortable occurance was night flashes. I would wake up with the bed completely soaked in sweat. Adding Soy and other estrogen herbs decreased this significantly. After about three years, they stopped. BTW, menopause is when your menses stops completely, it is not a phase. mbmbn
