I am always willing to pretend to be listening to them.

Ahh that is sad in my eyes. I would rather not be pretended to.

Aah, that's only for those who don't get my humor.

It depends.  Sometimes people talk because they need to vent.  That is to be expected.  However, after hearing ten stories about Helen, that bitch from Hell, who sits next to you at work.  I am going to finally tune you out or say, "I get it, She's a total cunt. It is time you tell Helen how you feel and stop yammerin' on to me anymore about this ridiculous situation."

Then we can go fuck.....Yay!!!!

What if she does not want to talk about Helen at work, she wants to talk about your feelings towards her?
Not until you have the following "little talk"!
*Do you love me? How much do you love me? Why don't you show me that you love me?  Does this mean we are serious? Do you want to get married?  Do you want to live together? When can I meet your family? Do you think about me during the day? Why don't you call me more often? Why don't I see you every Friday night? Why do you spend so much time with Jeff? When can I meet your friends and family?
Why don't you tell me what you feel towards me? What are your feelings? Do you love me?

What if she can not stop talking?

I would gently sit her down and reach out and hold both of her hands. I would then look at her straight in her eyes and and with all possible earnesty say,

"Baby, What was that you were saying about Helen?"

I went out with a woman who could - DID - talk the hind legs off a donkey, at top volume, about everything, especially whoever it was she was talking to. everyone around would be treated to vivid tales of pretty much every embarrassing private thing in your life. God I wish I'd owned a gag back then!

Why was I with her? 17 years later, I'm still trying to work that one out. No, the sex wasn't that good. She thought doggystyle was kinky for god's sake!

Mz Mia is this sort of talk a no-no? Is there ever a time it is okay or is it better if she/he keeps it zipped and does not ever ask these sorts of q's? Or is it best to leave it to the other to bring it up if they do? Personally I wouldnt want to bring up marriage or living together or many of these things but wondering whether a relationship was serious might be something I would like to know. I do like to hear about how people feel if they care to share.

I think of you during the day MzMia.

What a sweet thing to say.

HC? you ask such wonderful relationship questions.
I look forward to reading a variety of answers.

I will say, HC there are some men, that don't want you to ask some of those questions for years/if ever.
Some men/women accuse a woman of "nagging" if they ask some basic questions.
So what is a woman to do with a man that behaves like that?

I look at some of the people here, and out in the world, involved in bonded relationships and (I dont think, but what do I know) it seems they are both wanting to be together and are not flinching at the thought of it. I suppose if the guy is really into the woman these questions wont create anxiety in the woman to begin with because she will feel he is there because he wants to be, is not pretending, is not going behind her back trying to hustle up more dinner somewhere else?

It seems compatibility and good timing are key.

I know there are some desperate moments where someone may feel slighted, neglected, etc etc and want to talk about it and it may go wrong if the other person is not really there in a way that they would care anyway. Awkward.

I guess if he behaves that way it may or may not mean he is into you, depending on the history of the guy?

I've always enjoyed talking to the women I was going out with, that's one of the reasons I went out with them!

Last week there was some comments from several different guys about how much it annoys them that women want to talk, do talk, like talking to their men.

One guy has two women so they can talk to each other instead of him.

Another guy pretends to listen and be interested to oil the machine that takes clothing off. He talks the talk but it is not sincere.

Other men plain dont like it.

I am certain there are men who dig it, arent there? I am wondering is it really so bad? Are there some women who might be the exception, that do hold some sort of interest and talking with them is something you look forward to? Is it the content? Or simply a general eye rolling groan if you sense a woman wanting to chat?

Women do you find your man, potential man, ex-men will indulge and talk, or do they not even look at you when they speak and all that sort of thing. Do you find it satisfactory to speak with a man, if he opens up is it interesting to you or do you find yourself bored? Is it the content?

Women, are you left feeling unwelcome when you feel like opening up and talking? Men do you wish women would lose the desire to talk?

hc, it all depends. If I'm in a bad mood, I don't want to talk to anyone. Also, I'm not usually a very talkative man, so if a woman is one of those that HAS to have a "dense", continous conversation, she's going to likely be disappointed.

Having said all that, I do love women, and if our communication styles mesh, then that is something that I look forward to, and enjoy.

I haven't really run into this. Getting me to talk is more a challenge then me talking to much. I get bored with small talk, so seldom indulge in it. Actually I get bored with a lot of conversations, so stay quiet a lot. Rather spend my time doing something, verses talking.

I really don't talk that much, unless I really have something to say. I know a lot of women who just talk talk talk talk talk talk talk, just to hear themselves talk, I think. It drives me crazy. I hear a group of women talking at work, say at lunch, and they're gabbing away, and laughing hysterically, and I don't have a clue what's so freaking funny.

And that's probably more words than I usually say in the course of a day, lol.

Apparently, the idea that women talk more than men is a stereotype that holds little ground in truth.

"An article in this week's issue of Science blasts the popular myth that women are more talkative than men.
Researchers outfitted 396 college students — 345 Americans and 51 Mexicans — with devices that automatically recorded them every 12 1/2 minutes, which amounts to 4 percent of a person's daily utterances.
The researchers found that women speak a little more than 16,000 words a day. Men speak a little less than 16,000 words. The difference is not statistically significant.
Psychologist Matthias Mehl of the University of Arizona says the three top talkers in the study — uttering up to 47,000 words a day — were all men. So was the most taciturn subject, who spoke only 700 words a day, on average.
Mehl says he and his colleagues were surprised at the outcome. They had tentatively bought into the popular stereotype that women are the more talkative sex.
[...]
Mehl says the supposed talkativeness of women is often mentioned in pop-psychology books.
"The typical scenario is — a man comes home from work at night, has used 6,850 words and with 150 left over just wants to relax and not talk," Mehl says. "And the woman welcomes the husband with about 7,856 words left over. And that's where all the problems start."
Mehl guesses that the talkativeness claim "evolved as an explanation for what scientists call the demand/withdrawal pattern." That is, the situation where a woman demands to talk through problems and her male partner withdraws emotionally.
"We use our gender magnifying glass and over-generalize from that," Mehl says. "Instead of saying that men tend to talk less and women tend to talk more, we say 'Women always talk and men never talk.'"

I like to talk, I like to listen, if she is interesting. If she isn't interesting it really doesn't matter. I will soon be gone anyway.

Yay!

Incidentaly, the tone and timber of a womans voice can be a deal breaker with Me.
