So true..That's why I don't do the what if's..That's usually a diversionary tactic to discussion or a way to win an argument instead of making peace with the logic of said argument.

This whole thread is a "what if". [;)]

True but the essence behind it is what I'm debating..not the what if.
I personally don't do what if's as a retort.

i have had them undress in a parking lot at night and walk to the car

i ask a question to stir discussion and everybody goes off the deep end

I personally think you were trying to be controversial with the topic but I also think the essence of it makes for a good discussion.

I couldn't help myself. [:)]

Since this whole thing is a what if with very little given in the way of specifics, I do think we are required, to certain extent, to elaborate on the various possiblities of where and how this could occur.

What if... it was him randomly issuing the command at Ruth's Chris with our parents and his grandmother. I'd seriously wonder if he was losing his mind.

What if... it was his birthday and he'd arranged a private room for himself at his favorite place. Probably wouldn't take all that much encouraging. I like being naked better than being clothed. [:D]

That's just me though. That's part of why I have a love/hate relationship with "what if"s. For me to give a complete answer, I feel like I'm writing a college thesis on the various possiblities and ramifications of behavior in an ethics or pysch class.

Edited cause I can... [;)]

Who went off the deep end? I'm enjoying the discussion with Icarys. You got some intense responses to the subject but nudity in public, with it's very serious potential outcomes, is bound to stir from intense responses.

If you choose your partner/s carefully you don't even have to worry about this because it's not something that would even cross your mind.

Although I prize an intelligent female mind..in this case..It's just not that complicated.[:D] There is such a thing as over-thinking a situation.

I think the reason I dislike the what if's so much is that they tend to be used in such negative ways.

this says to me that he has given her the power to disobey a rule if she thinks it to be harmful and or stupid. From the majority of her posts over time that could be pretty much anything and everything...Just my perspective.

While I can't say I share that opinion of Des, I can see where you are coming from in terms of her wording. Personally, if I would regard the order as stupid would depend on a lot of things that aren't provided in the situation. I would quite probably see the order as more alarming than stupid because it would be so very out of the normal that I would be concerned.

What a weird idea of the whole notion of *doing as asked*. Do we REALLY have to start mentioning our sick babies, comparing taking care of them to making a meal, dear god.

I appreciate your point of view that my example was not to your taste. I shall endeavor to keep them to your liking however you missed the point.

I did not compare taking care of a sick child to making a meal. It was designed to be an obvious "well duh this is more important that" example of neglecting/disobeying one order to complete one is more important to the owner and in so doing pleasing the owner.

Not everyone does things that way and that's fine. My point was, again, solely that choosing to do things that way does not imply that the sub/slave has the power in that relationship.

As you said, different strokes.  It does seem a bit daft to have to consider *disobeying* one order because something over-ridingly important arose. It's just pointing out the obvious....just as my examples were.

I have to admit that I don't have a mission to *please* my owner. I wouldn't undress to please him, I'd undress because that's the relationship I chose. It might be terribly un-pc.........but if he says undress..... I jolly well do it.

That's a great response!

Instead of looking for all of the ways out of doing something you choose a more positive way of thinking.

I, personally, do not regard it as disobeying. I was simply using the terms that had already been referenced. I regard it as more attending to the more important matter. We prefer to have the "this is more than that" more formalized. It's our power structure.

I don't see anything un-pc about it. None of the discussion has been focused on what is or is not political correct. You would do it because that is the structure in your relationship.

Those of us with a tiered system are obeying it because that is relationship that we and our owners chose for our own varying reasons. To put it in your terms, I would be "jolly well obeying" when I questioned him.

lusciouslips19 -> RE: If you told your slave (2/21/2010 7:31:13 PM)

I would not expect my Master have me breaking laws. So I would choose better than to be put in a position to be arrested for public decency.

SO the question is would you obey regardless of the consequences. The Master who would do this, is an abuser if I am being put in a position to get caught and arrested. Im afraid this all reminds me of the control and sadism used on Stacy Duggard as she was kept captive for 18 years. She learned to obey, but that didnt make her kidnapper a Master. He was a rapist and abuser.

So regardless of the consequences? Hell no. But I will seek one who cares more about my welfare than you OSF seem to want to do with a sub.

Damn, I wish I had said this! This is exactly what I was trying to figure out how to articulate, only you got it way better than I could have.

I was going on your post, actually...

It was designed to be an obvious "well duh this is more important that" example of neglecting/disobeying one order to complete one is more important to the owner and in so doing pleasing the owner.

I'm not picking at YOUR *tiered power structure*......I was reading your post and addressing that. Taking the common sense approach obviously isn't that common if it needs to be factored in.
