Don't write of the south, Dom. Yes, Bible-thumpers can be annoying, but I am posting right now from the Texas All State Spanking Party. No shortage of kinksters here in the Bible Belt. Okay, Mississippi may be worse, but that state gave us some of our best music this past century. Nah, don't write our southern friends off. I'd forgotten since moving back to Michigan just how friendly folks are here, and how good the food is, and how hot the chicks are. The south may or may not rise again, but it ain't going away either and that's probably a good thing. Besides, as silly as the board's response may have been, as another poster said, the chicks should have just gone to the prom and said nothing. And besides again, maybe they were hot Penthouse lipstick lesbians. This whole prom business is a joke anyway. Why in the fuck are kids encouraged to pair up in a couple to attend a party? It's wrong. Kill the whole "prom date" bullshit and encourage the students to turn up in groups. They have plenty of time ahead of them to get hitched and suffer the consequences. It takes huge courage for someone that age to take a stand like that, and it is an important stand to take. Easier to just fade away and keep under the radar but that is a fucked up way to have to live. Instead of taking the easy way she decided that this was worth fighting over. Maybe the national spotlight will make a difference, but even if it doesn't I bet it will inspire another gay kid somewhere in the US to stand up when they need to. Get enough standing up and we can all use the same drinking fountain. Eventually.
