What I never see attached to stories like this is the outcome. Where's the rest of the story? So a guy sued the post office over dead pigeons. What really happened? Did the post office promise to deliver overnight, misplace the package for a month, then refuse to pay an insurance claim because the package was eventually delivered? What was the guy asking for - cash value of the pigeons? There's nothing here which says that the lawsuit is ridiculous, or that the tort system is broken. Truly ridiculous lawsuits are summarily dismissed. People who file a number of ridiculous or bad-faith lawsuits can be designated "vexatious litigators" and have their rights to file lawsuits limited. You can countersue to recover losses.
