Being that you are a beagler...Would you consider you love of beagles a lifestyle or a kink?

It's pure science: you have beagles, you love beagles. Bam.

For me, it's just how we arrange our marriage. We're not invested enough in any sort of larger community to think of this as a "lifestyle".... no moreso than being married is a lifestyle.

If someone with a surfboard walks up to you and questions wheher it is a hobby or a lifestyle, just smack him really hard. He should shake his head, pat you on the shoulder and say, "thanks man, I needed that!".

My bad.

Ok, for those non beach dwellers, surfing is absolutely considered a lifestyle.

If you do it, then it is the style of your life.

It is all of the above. Depends on who you are talking to. Same with any pursuit...karate, baseball, chess...you can dabble, or it can become the cornerstone of your life.

Is this a lifestyle, what we do? Is it a hobby? just a fetish? We are discussing on the podcast tonight. What are your thoughts?

I've really enjoyed reading the comments on this because the "is this a lifestyle" question is one that really interests me.

I'm genuinely happy for people who chose to make "this" their lifestyle - it's their choice afteral. But I would no more describe myself as a "lifestyle dominant" than I would a "lifestyle sailor" or "lifestyle reader" or "lifestyle hiker" - These are all things that make up my lifestyle - they're all things that form an important part of who I am and how I live but I would absolutely hate to be defined by just one of them.

I agree with LadyA and RS. My life 'style' very probably isn't going to match anyone else's here. We each have our own things, hobbies, interests, obligations, desires......just everything our lives encompass that are our own unique style of living. Our lifestyle.

The essence of who I am does not change from interest to hobby to obligation. I am always me. A dominant personality. How that is conveyed will vary from interest to hobby to obligation and type of relationship. I don't flog my boss, even though I have threatened to multiple times. And an S.O. isn't going to pay me to boss them around, like my boss does.

How much D/s or M/s affects all aspects of a person's life will be as varied as the people you ask.

Simply put and covers what I think others are saying.  Each person determines how much of their daily thought and life is dedicated to what they do, which in turn they will individually determine how to consider it (lifestyle, hobby, kink, etc).  There will not be a definitive answer.
