FR,

Why do people keep chanting "What about individual responsibility?" like a mantra?  A child isn't just the mother's responsibility nor even that of both parents.  A child is the responsibility of society as a whole.  'Rights never go without responsibilities' - another mantra so beloved of the political right, everywhere.  But, again, society wants the right to an individual's contribution to it - up to and including the right forcibly to risk that individual's life in a war.

This isn't just about individuals. it's about society.  In particular, it's about a society that, despite its vast wealth and obvious greed for even more, is still steeped in a defunct ideology that desperately tries to make a virtue out of selfishness.

So, then: what about social responsibility - and the idea that we are all the 'uncles and aunts' of every child in our society?  *Sigh* - again, something that only very primitive tribespeople seem to believe, apparently.

THIS!!!!

your main argument is that it will raise your taxes... It will raise your taxes more to have the child then to not have it..

This.
Question, Ken. Do you think healthcare should cover it if a woman gets pregnant and has the baby? If so, your whole "I shouldn't have to pay for an abortion" argument is blown. If not... well, things are about to get interesting.

Actually I do think that healthcare should cover prenatal care as a matter of mom's health.   Provided you have healthcare.

I am circumcised....allow me to make this public offer (open to most any of the ladies...other than belladevine...I'm a slut, not fucking crazy)I am niether infected nor impotent..and am willing to prove both at any time and at most any place..... come one ...come all.[:D]

You have always been a giver mikey

Yup, clicked the link... now lets talk about reality. As many men as i have been with, 99% were circumcised... and not a single one had trouble getting it up. All the cut men in hospitals that i took care of.. no problems there either. All the dads in Labor and Delivery, signing their sons up for circumcision so they can be "just like dad" seems to also point to the fact that, at least in those men, they had no problems.

There is a whole list of reasons why men are impotent. Labling circumcision as the cause is a little misleading.

You just want me to pay for your indescritions (or those of others).   You just want to raise my taxes even more.   Or at least that is the way it appears.

I'm sure you've lived a perfect life and never had to require medical attention for anything that was bad judgement on your part.

In any case, you and I have different taxes. I'll stay in my country where we treat people fairly, thank you very much.

There is nothing more fair than the free market. Thank you for staying there.

In tricare (champus) case, they could not deny you, they could not cancel, they could not raise your rates... tell me, what did you work so hard for? Something that was guarenteed you for just doing your job?

hehehehe   why do you think I chose the military   lol

Then quit saying how hard you worked for it.

So this isn't actually about abortion per se...You are just basically a miserable fuck all around aren't you?

Ken where is it written that your tax dollars will only be used for things you personally approve of...as an earlier poster mentioned he is morally opposed to war...does he get to decide his tax money can't be used for defence spending?
Your tax dollars are not, despite what Realone and others will tell you voluntary.....make contributions to the charities of your choice....hell give to pro-choice organizations if you like. That is your right.....anti- abortion forces holding up health care reform over this is nothing less than obstructionism...hopefully the Dems don't cave and you and your kind can gnash your teeth about all of your taxes now doing the devils work.A womans choice is the law of the land....if we are to reform health care why in hell would we exclude a procedure that is legal and can be medically necessary?

I don't care if it is one billionth of a mil   I don't want to pay any more on taxes.   yes   Abortion is the law of the land and I don't care about that.   Just don't make me pay for it (exceptions noted).   Healthcare reform   not gonna argue that isn't needed either.   but will argue whether or not I have to pay for some things (personal responsibility) and making criminals of people that don't have healthcare.

But you seem to miss the point.....its not your decision...you can whine about it,you can bitch about it...but if its passed you will pay your taxes and grind your teeth ....and somehow when it comes to guys like you...that just makes me feel good.

Yeah I know   but it hasn't passed yet    Govt does a whole bunch of crap I disagree with.   It's like someone out there thinks that the people have no brains, should not make a decision without their approval.

xBullx -> RE: Women's Rights! (3/18/2010 5:59:38 PM)

I see your point Angelika, but I'm curious about the way you responded to this... What if the guy didn't mean for her to get pregnant, what if he was coerced into sex or the condom broke or her pills were "accidently" forgotten? Shouldn't a guy have a choice to have her abort? I mean she's walking around with his swimmer held hostage in her egg.

So if the Government will pay for her abortion will it not now pay his child support if she wants the baby and he doesn't?

I mean considering Moonheads position fairs, fair, right?

I do as well. I protect myself many ways and believe in planning parenthood. Also, when I drive a car down the street, I do everything I can to prevent an accident. Reality is, accidents happen. And they happen to people who were being extra careful. We can't start judging who deserves a funded abortion and who doesn't.

What do you say of the young girl who gets slipped some GHB and winds up pregnant? Or the girl who get raped?

Or the girl who is on the pill and still gets pregnant? The condom that breaks combined with the morning after pill that doesn't work? The diaphragm that wasn't fitted properly? The woman who has an IUD and still gets pregnant?

There is no method of contraception that is full proof other than abstinence of male-female vaginal penetration. Even then... swapping fluids during mutual masturbation can lead to pregnancy.

Imagine how humiliating it would be to have to go through a triage to determine if you did everything you could to avoid getting pregnant.

Not to mention the cost of a woman living off government assistance until her child goes to preschool because her education level isn't high enough to have a job that can pay the rent and child care. How much more is that than 700$?

- LA

Did the govt tell her she couldn't be educated?   She have a problem that prohibits education?    Not understanding your educational point.

With all this talk about abortion funding in this health care bill, I'm wondering if the Republicans think a woman shouldn't have the right to do as she chooses with her own body?

Any opinions?

I think a woman should have a right to drive on the right side of the road.

I think a woman should have a right to buy a newspaper for the same price I pay.

I think she should be allowed to leave her socks (so long as I can smell them) on (my) side of the bed.

I think she should be allowed to walk around my house nekkid.

I think she should smell good at all times (because she probably will anyways).

She should have better hair.

She should look waaaaaaaaaay the fuck better in heels.

And she should be....a lot prettier than me.

Yeah   I didn't see an amendment to the constitution guaranteeing healthcare.   thru my intrepretation I see the opportunity to get it not where it is a right

I think is is funny how many people of the "religious" sector think abortion is bad but can't wait to mutilate the penis of thier new born baby boy (without anesthetic).

HELLO morals anybody?????

Women's rights????? HAHAHAHA

What about a baby's rights? What about a man's rights to a sound mind and healthy sex life.

WTF? A circumsised man cant have a sound mind and healthy sex life? You do realize that more than 75% of men are circumsised, dont you? I guess the shrinks offices are filled with them.

I think I want to make this one manditory

I think a woman should have a right to buy a newspaper for the same price I pay.

I can live with this
I think she should be allowed to leave her socks (so long as I can smell them) on (my) side of the bed.

Pass
I think she should be allowed to walk around my house nekkid.

I think I wanna make this one manditory too
I think she should smell good at all times (because she probably will anyways).

Not manditory but nice
She should look waaaaaaaaaay the fuck better in heels.

Well duuuuuuhhhhhh
And she should be....a lot prettier than me.

Again not manditory but nice

xBullx -> RE: Women's Rights! (3/18/2010 6:08:12 PM)

I was hoping someone would get to this part of the monkey business.

So if I want to smoke (like our President does) and eat fatty foods like my favorite Dem President Wild Bill did I trust I can count on my Liberal friends to back me when they start trying to make me pay extra or deny me "rights" to my Federal Health Care.

Right?!

quote:

ORIGINAL: SpiritedRadiance

Also if my mother who smokes drinks eats fatty foods and such will be eligible for free health care which has cost multiple thousands of dollars in medical expenses because of her own choices. Then those who choose to have an abortion for what ever reason, should be allowed the procedure.
