I dig Dragon's Den but now I see there is Shark's Tank, the American version of the show.

Any Americans I know enjoy the Canadian version better. Wondering though, DD did come first right???

What I have learned about Canadians I have learned from those I have met via the internet. I also know people who know Canadians, who have went to Canada, etc...

Here is what I know of Canadians... they are extremely civil and polite people....

I do not think one can get to know a lot about a people from their cultural exports... in other words I would not think that other people knew a lot about Americans from their movies and TV... just me, etc

Oh I actually think that our media is somewhat a reflection of ourselves. But I do not think that it gives a complete picture.

My post was actually to see if our media products are exported anywhere. Seems it must be mostly our music.

Hollywood never forgave you for William Shatner. Queered it for everyone who followed.

I don't know any Canadian TV or films. My uncle is Canadian and he's been a professor of sociology my whole life over at UC Fresno, so, that is all I know about Canada, other than I wanted to defect during the last admin.

Much of our talent went to Hollywood to make TV and films but many have their start in Canadian shows. Some of our talent that moved down south is:

Will Arnett
Dan Aykroyd
John Candy
Jim Carrey
Kim Cattrall
Michael Cera
Emmanuelle Chriqui
Dave Foley
Michael J. Fox
Brendan Fraser
Victor Garber
Phil Hartman
Jill Hennessy
Eugene Levy
Howie Mandel
Rick Moranis
Carrie-Anne Moss
Mike Myers
Sandra Oh
Ellen Page
Anna Paquin
Matthew Perry
Christopher Plummer
Jason Priestley
Keanu Reeves
Ryan Reynolds
Seth Rogen
Will Sasso
William Shatner
Martin Short
Donald Sutherland
Kiefer Sutherland
Fay Wray

Ok I realise I put Keanu Reeves there and he really doesn't qualify as talent but you get my drift ;-)

Beyond Canada's Next Top Model which I have never watched ms bunny, are the following Canadian shows that might have been seen outside of Canada:

- Kids in the Hall
- Billable Hours
- The Newsroom
- Corner Gas
- Little Mosque on the Prairie
- Trailer Park Boys
- Kenny vs Spenny
- Puppets Who Kill
- Clone High
- G-Spot
- Queer As Folk
- Andromeda
- Flashpoint
- Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures
- Durham County
- The Hour
- This Hour Has 22 Minutes
- Royal Canadian Air Farce
- Nikita
- Lexx
- Once A Thief
- Da Vinci's Inquest or Da Vinci's City Hall
- Street Legal
- Traders
- Due South
- The Outer Limits
- Degrassi Junior High or Degrassi The Next Generation
- Bob & Doug
- SCTV
- Anne of Green Gables
- The Beachcombers
- The Littlest Hobo
- King of Kensington
- Fraggle Rock

That was a nice trip down memory lane.

- LA

Well, I LOVE Keanu Reeves! I think he is TOTALLY HOT! I also like Kiefer Sutherland and Brendan Frasier! Mm-mm good!
I totally loved Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea, The Outer Limits, SCTV, and I liked Kids in the Hall. There's another one that isn't mentioned, but I can't remember the name of it. It was hilarious, though. Red and Green Show, or was it Green and Red Show? Anyway, something like that! Loved that show! I like to laugh!

DarlingSavage - see this happens every time we play this game. People outside of Canada say that they know no media exports of ours until we start naming a few. I like the response that is "Oh, they're Canadian? Wow! They're pretty good" ;-)

Thanks for adding the list of mainstream Canadian Musical Artists. I knew some names but don't really do mainstream music so I knew my list would be incomplete.

Edit to add:
Gordon Lightfoot

Important, especially after that day a few weeks ago the news reported he was dead! Poor Gordon.

I'll also add one of my all time favorites, Leonard Cohen.

I tried to include some that are a bit off the beaten path... of that list, my favorite is perhaps Stan Rogers... such a big voice, such a tragic end at a young age.

I did not include one of my mother's favorites: Anne Murray.

I realise this amounts to little more than an echo...but as a classic rock sort of guy I have always appreciated our neighbors to the north...thier contribution to that particular genre can not be overstated....Canada Rocks!
