DarkSteven -> Thanks a whole lot, Republicans. (3/23/2010 5:39:22 AM)

I opposed the health care bill.  The main reason is that I felt that the health care system is inherently wasteful, and that extending it without fixing it would freeze the waste in place.

Obama made it clear that he wanted the bill, but that he also wanted GOP input.  Instead of that, the GOP opposed the bill and showed no interest in working to add input to it.  They spread lies about death panels, etc., and their tactics were to yell about negative parts of the bill, even though they could and should have simply gotten those parts removed.  The Dems responded to the poisoned atmosphere by spreading counterlies.

When Brown got elected, the GOP crowed that the bill was dead.  They taunted Obama as being ineffective and laughed at him for having been unable to get anything passed with a supermajority previously.

Eventually, Obama just said, "Fuck this", and pushed it through, over GOP howling.

The idiots need to understand that the reason that the Dems got a supermajority in the first place is because the public was so fed up with Bush and the policies that he and the GOP rammed through.  Claiming to have suddenly be the only true party representing the will of the people won't wash.  You cannot set yourself up to be the party of fiscal responsibility after eight years of record deficits, even if your successor is expanding them.

Okay, guys, you can either become the party of whiners complaining that Obama is passing legislation you don't like, or else you can work with him on making the bills more acceptable to you.  Your choice.

They are simply just not interested.

All they want is to keep stirring the pot and hope they can confuse things badly enough so they can carry the next elections.

justin198753 -> RE: Thanks a whole lot, Republicans. (3/23/2010 6:03:37 AM)

Ever think that they know that their constituents didn't want the bill?  Like many bills in the past couple yrs had more wastefeul spending that everyones growing tired of?  Well maybe not everyone.  I know there are people out there that like throwing their money away and being hopelessly in debt.

The Republicans, party of the people:

CNN poll: Majority disapprove of Obama for first time

Poll: Low Favorability Ratings For Pelosi, Reid

IRS to Enforce Health Reform

FLASHBACK: Obama promises 'public will have FIVE DAYS to look at every bill that lands on my desk'...

NEXT: After health, Dems zero in on 'global warming'...

The headline for that poll is hysterical.  Especially since the author of the article admits the majority in both polls state they are undecided or don't have enough information.  What that actually means is that the majority of people polled have no opinion, the low opinion is much further down the list.  But since when do republicans let facts get in the way.

We've had a lot longer than 5 days to study it.  What's the point since many of the tea bag persuasion seem so intent on believing the lies rather than the bill.  These are the same people who believe that there were actually death panels.

So the IRS is going to enforce the fines.  And?  Would you rather set up something new or have the FBI do it?   Do you get so riled when the police give fines for things like people having no insurance?

The Obama favorable rating poll is skewed by two things.  One is health care, of which a portion of those who are negative remain opposed because they want the bill to go further.  You do acknowledge that one right?  Republicans wouldn't co-opt someone else to inflate their numbers now.   The other is the deficit and part of that problem is the belief of the lies about health care.  I would ask you where was your outrage about the budget when Bush was selling bonds to China behind everyones back to hide how much the war was costing?

From your own article posting on the climate bill it talks about democrats and republicans working on portions of it.

Anything else you want to distort?

And all sorts of people cried out and pointed to the Congress being lower when Bush was down in the polls at the 20% minus range.

So where is the congress polling these days?

LOL, I think polls are for imbiciles, they mean nothing.

slvemike4u -> RE: Thanks a whole lot, Republicans. (3/23/2010 8:16:00 AM)

Unfortunately Sanity is actually a reflection of the Republican party ,albeit a caricature to be sure...but like Sanity much of Republican leadership seems more vested in the failure of President Obama and the Democrats than they are in the success of America.
If as they would like America crashes and burns under Democratic leadership all is good.....Republicans rise again.The cataclysms involved matter not a whit to them.

juliaoceania -> RE: Thanks a whole lot, Republicans. (3/23/2010 8:26:31 AM)

Granted, Republicans lied, screamed, and subverted all through this process.. but... and you are not going to like this, if you do not like the healthcare reform package you have to blame the democrats.

Like you said, they hold a supermajority. They had the votes. They had a mandate. They squandered it by playing politics to "seem" bipartisan... the fact that healthcare reform is a give away to insurance, well that isn't on the Republicans doorstep. No, it is at the feet of the Democrats...

Great poll.

Thirty-six percent "haven't heard enough" about Pelosi and fifteen percent are undecided.

Fifty percent "haven't heard enough" about Reid and and eighteen percent are undecided.

Pretty hard to take it seriously when the majority of respondents "haven't heard enough" or can't form an opinion about two of the most influential members of Congress.

slvemike4u -> RE: Thanks a whole lot, Republicans. (3/23/2010 10:14:22 AM)

Perhaps they only polled in Idaho,if the rest of the state is as mis/uninformed as Sanity...these numbers are actually a bit conservative where  the "haven't heard enough" are concerned.

I haven't heard enough about this Idaho.

Is that somewhere in the U.S.?

You get bent out of shape when people insult you and infer you are crazy for believing outlandish stuff, but then you post the above.... Isn't that a little hypocritical? Think about it, you are inferring that those of us that do not believe the stuff you post are "asleep" or "sheeple" or a hundred other little condescending remarks, yet when someone tells you to take your meds we are being "abusive"...

Actually, it might have been a shrewd move. By delaying the major parts of the reform until 2014, they gave the health insurance companies just enough rope to hang themselves with. We'll probably see premiums skyrocket, and a call for more reform - this time the public option will be inevitable.

But you are right, the Dems are partially to blame. Not for offering bipartisan cooperation. But rather, for letting Joe Lieberman get away with filibustering the original Senate's version.

pahunkboy -> RE: Thanks a whole lot, Republicans. (3/23/2010 10:55:26 AM)

For the record- I was and am against the health care reform bill.

I told both my fed and state reps.   With the state being more responsive.   I think the law is a total mistake.    Alex is in hypermode over it too.  But it goes beyond that.  12 sates now confirm lawsuits on it.  with up to 38 states considering some type of action. bricks thrown thru windows in 3 states over this law.

As for the OP.....the whole mess disgusts me.

slvemike4u -> RE: Thanks a whole lot, Republicans. (3/23/2010 11:10:30 AM)

Those lawsuits are just so much hot air...the bill is fashioned as a tax....and it is legal for the Fed to levy taxes.
