AQuietSimpleMan -> Why do we get all uppity about Weight based Threads? (3/23/2010 2:48:30 PM)

Okay so I just read 6 pages of a Thread that started in 2005 and was resurected by someone making their first post.

What was funny is that she answered the questions made in personal and even made a valid point.

Then the people came going "Oh man she stepped on a landmine" Or "Shit storm-a-coming"

What is so bad about discussing weight?

I'm fat, I know it, I get to look into a mirror every day and see my ass when it gets out of a shower..... I KNOW I am fat.

I am also Sexy as hell and know that I am a worthy person. I am willing to discuss my weight, I am willing to discuss my struggles with weight, one struggle is that the reason I have issues around my weight is that so many other people do.

do you have any idea how many people take it upon themselves to talk with me about my weight and remind me again and again and again just how unhealthy I am. What is funny is that I always liked me, I always liked being big, other people had the biggest issue with it so anytime I would wonder why something was different for me than how I preceived it for other people I had to wonder if it was the weight. Then I started connecteing any difference with being heavy no matter what happened in my life it muct be because I'm fat.

Sick twisted game, but as an adult I can see it and deal with it accordingly.

Being overweight in this lifestyle cannot be made into a statistic because you can't account for that in the desire to engage in an alternative lifestyle but come on people lets be honest.

Go to a play party, Go to a munch, just look at the majority of people who use their own pictures on this site and you have to admit you will find more heavy ones than light ones. Maybe this isn't true per area, maybe this isn't true per kink, but in the end if you add them all up you just cannot deny they are there.

Just like you'll find more women over 35 then you will find under 35. Just like you will find more older fat Doms than you will Fabio shirt rippers.

It's just an accurate observation, and if you got a serious problem with those things pointed out maybe you ought to find a different Fantasy world cause it's going to get mentioned here.

Obviously alotta new folks here, so you are going to get just one pass. Nobody may post a fatgirl thread either new, or ancient without informing me so I can snag some blowjobs off the fatgirls, because the fatgirl threads always come around to blowjobs.

See that it is so.

I AM MODERATE!!! I AM DOMINATE!!!!!

So, if I understand this correctly, fat people may not be fat and happy, but blows jobs make you happy and a nice rich dessert fills you up.

Ok, makes sense to Me!

Re: OP

It's because there is never a "fat thread" that doesn't contain a post by at least one, and usually more, that contain statements such as "fat people are unhealthy", "fat people just let themselves go", "fat people just need to eat less and exercise more", "fat people disgust me", "I'm entitled to my preference", and tons of other blanket statements that don't take anything like genetics, age, body type, etc. into consideration.  It never stays constructive, insults and defenses start flying back and forth and it ALWAYS turns into a big clusterfuck.  The horse is dead, rotted and has been beaten so far into the ground that he has fallen out on the other side of the world.

Please just.....don't :)

Thank you, Smutmonger, for proving my point. :)

I've been overweight. I prefer to be thin. I've been thin most of my life.

The problem with there being so many obese people lies in the fact that over >30% of the US population is obese. It is NOT something to be proud of. My brother is obese and so is my mom, my sister is overweight. I refuse to look like that. And just because people are thin, doesn't necessarily mean that they are "shirt ripping Fabios", which I can't stand those, either. As a female, I prefer to be the pretty one. I also like to be healthy.

According to the CDC:
American society has become 'obesogenic,' characterized by environments that promote increased food intake, nonhealthful foods, and physical inactivity. Policy and environmental change initiatives that make healthy choices in nutrition and physical activity available, affordable, and easy will likely prove most effective in combating obesity.

Obesity is a risk factor for a variety of chronic conditions including diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, stroke, heart disease, certain cancers, and arthritis.26 Higher grades of obesity are associated with excess mortality, primarily from cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and certain cancers. 26-28 Trends in obesity-related health outcomes do not always parallel trends in the prevalence of obesity. Despite the increases in obesity prevalence, mortality rates and mortality from coronary heart disease and stroke have declined over several decades,29 possibly due to improvements in public health and medical care (IMO, due to technological advances in medical care, public health improvements most likely refers to public education and response times. I wanted to clarify this before someone went off spouting off how great US health care already is. Yeah, it's great if you have tons of money.) and in other cardiovascular risk factors30; however, hypertension appears to be increasing.31 Of these obesity-related conditions, diabetes may be most closely linked to obesity, and the increasing incidence of diabetes worldwide is of considerable concern.32
Prevalence and Trends in Obesity Among US Adults, 1999 - 2008

Because of the increased need for medical care caused by obesity, obesity becomes a disease burden to society at large, much the same as drug addiction or smoking.

Basically, what I hear the OP saying is that if we're thin or prefer thin people, then we shouldn't be into BDSM because it's heavily populated with obese people.

Most of us who are overwieght can lose it-self included. And nothing is forcing anyone to get involved with people they find unnattractive. I've never understood what the big deal with whining about this is.

You can, but are you? Studies show that you're not. I'm not gonna run around and try to force people to lose weight, and I don't think I'm being forced to be attracted to someone I'm not. However, I find it very disheartening when people that I am attracted to are far and few between because of this simple issue.

It seems to me that many men also prefer thin women. Shouldn't people try to emulate that which they desire? Then for someone like me, I get "whined at" because I'm not attracted to obese people.

I think there's a feeling that because the 'community' (don't let the anteater hurt me for using the word, please) is on the fringes of society it ought to band together and be accepting of everything-so YKINMK should extend to height, weight, disablilities...

People don't like the reminder that kinksters aren't nice just by virtue of being kinky-it messes with the illusion that everyone in the community (sorry Mr Anteaterman) is fluffy and non-judgemental and best friends with everyone else.

Some people are arseholes who can't resist taking digs at other people. Some people don't like large people. Some people dislike being called fat, or having people make an issue out of their size.

Those three facts, when brought together, make some kind of conflict inevitable.
