I'm not talking about the collars that don't look like a collar...chokers, chains etc.

I'm talking about an OBVIOUS collar that's only used on 4-legged pets in the vanilla world. What if it has a bell (think cat collar)? Are you willing to wear that in public for your Owner?

never been asked to do that, and now it would be complicated for family reasons if i had an owner... but if i lived alone, had a secure job i would used it it would be fun [:)]

I'm pretty sure that I would wear something like that.  My "collar" is the tattoo on the back of my neck.  I wear that all the time.  When people ask me what the "M" stands for, I tell them Max.  Almost 100% of them want to know if he has a tattoo of my name or initial on him.  LOL

Well, Carol's old collar was dog collar from petco. Now she has an eternity collar. In both cases, she would do as I said. Back then, she hated the dog collar in public feeling like everyone was snickering at her behind her back. Now, she wears half a pound of stainless around her neck and doesn't think anything of it. She didn't particularly like it when I took her collared and leashed around the town recently. I mean seriously, there's no mistaking what's going on when you add in the leash.

Overall, I've been adjusting her head space recently regarding how much the general public's opinion matters so things like this bother her a lot less.

Yes I would and I have before. I was so damn proud that I was Her property.

Of course the town folk thought I was a tad bit strange.

Infact... I recall one elderly couple commenting on my collar in the most negative of fashions.

"Well where is your collar? OH that is right you put it on your finger... how cute."

Have not been asked to do so yet, that's a hard one. Because I love to please my Master, I'd have to say, I would. But truely won't know till ordered to do it.

I don't have an owner, and never will, however I'd wear one out  for a play partner, or my Dom if I ever chose to get a dom instead of just a kinky partner again I think.  I frequently of my own will look at animal collars in the pet store section an think how awesome I'd love to wear that if only it wouldn't cause my anxiety to flair up. I've even bought choke chains to wear as jewelry , and that was my own idea, no prompting from any one.

I have mixed feelings. I don't like having attention drawn to myself so I wouldn't want to publicly wear it and then deal with the comments, questions, and looks. I certainly wouldn't wear it around any of my family because my private life is private. But I am not ashamed of it and have toyed with the idea quite often of when he and I are together to wear it. If he told me to wear it I'd do it regardless of how I felt unless it was around my children.

*Edited to add: It doesn't have a bell but there is an engraved pet tag hanging from it so there would be no mistaking it as a fashion choice.

i absolutely have before, and it's fun. It was a bit easier to get away with in NYC when i lived there, but i have worn one in other places. And my ex Master in NYC used to take me to CBGB in full bondage collar and cuffs.....ah, the memories.....[:)]

Honestly, it's up to my Owner what he wants. i trust his judgment, and i trust him. i will say though that currently all of the potential Owners i speak with have public personas that they don't want interfered with by their private lives, so really any future public collar i'll have will be more jewelry-ish. And i also respect an Owner that doesn't believe in forcing our kink onto others without their consent.

For me, the more ways i'm marked by my Owner, the better - public collar being just one. [:D]

After me and my first Lady decided to end the relationship (complicated story-we are still friends) I wore the collar before I would sleep.

If she is willing to hold the leash in public, I am willing to wear the collar.  But only in places where it would not be inappropriate...fetish party, strip club, even a "vanilla" bar, just not a family type atmosphere where kids are present.

My collar doesn't look like a collar however...

Yeah sure. My friends and I used to wear pet collars with bells on them all the time in high school. I still do sometimes. It's not usual in my group of friends and the circles I travel in. In fact, in my world, the sight of someone in such a collar is meaningless. They might be wearing it because they are in a power dynamic. Or they might be completely adverse to power dynamics but think it looks cute.

Hee hee, sure, and their collars were on underneath. [;)]

We were in Hells Kitchen for 2 years, and later in Midtown for 3 (he's still there - he's from Long Island). Never paraded our "kink" in front of anyone, just when it was appropriate and fun. My ex Master was pretty punk, so the collar would just go with our overall look when we were out on the town crawling the clubs - or CBGB's (RIP).

Actually we used to joke about our building in Hell's Kitchen - there were all sorts of people. We had a great time.

Don't think any future Owner of mine will do this though - and i'm happy. [:)]
