If the term "Switch" had never been coined, so to speak, how would you describe yourself to someone that is exclusively dominant or submissive if asked?

A dominant, cruelly sadistic slave with slight masochistic tendencies.

Laura, not to be rude, but the first thing that popped into my mind was that song from Travis Tritt T-R-O-U-B-L-E. *chuckling softly*

Hey Dustyn, I'm not taking you as trying to be rude. I've been reading your posts here tonight and though you rubbed me the wrong way a few times I feel you are not obnoxious. You seem to be working like a reporter (I'm dating a reporter) they can be a pain in the ass. :) Very concerned about the facts and the hard core of truth at the bottom of everything. So, I am trying to see your posts, understand your thoughts and not get rubbed wrong.

I don't know that song. But I did post it as a flip answer. :) I can't think of a one word substitute for Switch. Not one that I really like anyway. Not that Switch is great, but it's known. At the heart of it I would just say I am Me.

Quite often I am a pain in the butt too. ;)

I believe the best explaination for me .. and how I often describe myself.. is  "Evil wrapped in a decievingly kind and fluffy person"

This is easy because when I first got started in BDSM switch was not coined as a BDSM label.

When someone asked me.. "Are you top or bottom?" I always replied.. "Yes."

Laura, I full anticipate irritating some, annoying others and pissing off a rare few in my pursuit of information.  I'd rather that others be pissed at me than continue with no knowledge.

You have to keep an open mind to be able to hear and absorb knowledge. I'm not sure you are understanding what people are trying to say here. Try to put aside some of your hard facts, these are fairly emotion/ feeling  based issues and questions.

It is possible to gain knowlege without annoying or hurting people. More flies with honey.

I grasp the concepts, but when viewing it through a lens of emotional context, I have nothing with which to base it against, except in terms of dominance.  Knowledge without understanding is practically useless, because if you can't put the information into a working perspective it's just a list of facts and trivia.  It's a waste of my time in typing and doubly so for any that read and reply if I cannot grasp the information, and I despise wasting other people's time.

You have an interesting mind and you understand a lot of some things. Only boring people waste time. If you are paying attention you can always find something good, interesting or worthwhile. I don't feel you are wasting my time. Though, I am going to bed soon.

If I don't encounter you again, good luck with your search for answers.

Oh, I am certain to linger around the boards for a while, most likely in the switch categories, but who knows where I might roam.

And I am only mildly interesting when I am devoid of emotional responses.  With them, I am overbearing and frequently smothering towards others.  I know it is a flaw, and I do try to keep it in check, but as with most things in my life, from time to time, I fail miserably and others pay the price for it.

You care deeply. That may not come across when you are overbearing and smothering, but I could see it in the thread about your Switch friend. You have very nice qualities as a Dom. Let yourself out more, don't keep yourself smothered behind a screen of gruffness and harshness. Most people are not going to stomp all over you, everyone is vulnerable. Those who do go on the attack come across as being scared, not strong. You are strong but I think you kind of hide behind that. My reporter is like that too. He becomes dry and 'just the facts' where you seem to become aggressive. We are working on it, as well as my own (very slight lol) flaws.

Inconsistent...

or

53% bottom and 49% top. If the math doesn't quite work for you, we're probably not compatible.
