There are a few people on the far, far left who are running around guzzling pitchers of that Kool-Aide but SWAT teams are Special Weapons and Tactics personnel, they're paramilitary. They aren't teachers or technicians, fire fighters or janitors, or roughnecks or engineers. I've been following this god-awful thread kind of loosely. If I read it correctly, the OP is pissed because someone used the phrase "swat team" when referring to sending emergency personnel to the Gulf to help with the oil spill. Does anyone really beleive the president meant to send armed police officers and/or military operatives? As I recall, the original definition of SWAT is Special Weapons and Tactics and referred to a tactical unit created within the LAPD to deal with situations that were beyond what the typical beat cop could handle. It has since come to mean any team of specialists that have more training than those already involved with a situation. So I have no problem with the president saying we need a swat team to handle the oil spill. In fact, that's exactly what is needed: a team who can deploy specialzed weapons and tactics to clean-up and stop this oil spill. Geez, get over your hatred of a black president already! ~Dave

Well, you're misquoting the president, changing his words around to make them mean something ther than what he initially said. And you're incorrect, SWAT means paramilitary units (try to find any kind of dictionary that says otherwise). And you're playing the race card... which is getting old and tired, and worn out. I can disagree with anybody regardless of their skin color. To me, you're the racist because you seem to believe that anyone who is black needs special protection from people who would criticize them.
