i identify on here as switch in my profile as it's the closest thing to me i guess. but as a rule i just think i'm very kinky and perverted. in recent play i have found that i can totally give myself over in a submissive role, but still feel in control within that play. just as i can take the lead and know what i want, but still feel subbie at moments.

it, for me, all comes down to the person i'm with. with my ex i would have always said that i was domme because i didn't trust him enough so give him the submissive self that i held in me. in the last couple of years i have been able to hand myself over to someone else and tell him i am his to do with as he pleases. in turn, that has given him ground to also explore a side of himself that he hadn't before.

therefore i think i am nothing, but everything all at the same time. why be bound by lables when you can be greedy and have it all.

...As with 'needles', I can be either, simultaneously.... or so it feels.

I can, have, and wish to put myself in a position that might ordinarily be considered submissive, but I feel and act as I am the one who makes the demands... HAS to have the attention in a manner that might also satisfy my toy's dominant leanings.

I like to be 'used', but also have to 'force' the manner in which I am used.

I can 'take', and 'hurt', and control, though I am being led into the position of the 'taker'.

Personally, I will not identify someone as a Domme/Dom or sub by what they enjoy doing, or receiving, in the physical meaning, as much as their lean towards ordering, or being ordered. In De Sade's novels, that have inspired a great deal of what we now see as BDSM, the Dominant figures were not sadists by default. In fact, there are several scenes within the books, where they order their servants to whip, or even rape them. Yet, they remain the Dominant figures, even when they are at the receiving end.
In short, I am a Switch, not only because I can enjoy certain levels of pain and humiliation, in both the providing, and receiving ends, but mostly because I enjoy giving orders as much as I enjoy taking orders during a scene.
Is that a 50-50 balance? There is no such thing as measured balance formula. I want to believe, for myself, that I am in that "Golden line" of balance, though I'm pretty sure I'm constantly jumping on each side's 75%, depending on my momentary impulse, and my current partner.

I am more dominant than submissive but know myself to understand that I wouldn't be happy remaining dominant for long periods of time. I would get bored! So for me it isn't about percentages. It is about where I am in that moment. I do my best to stay in the here and now. I am aware many are in the past or future...or past, present, future...and so they are constantly shifting.
