ORIGINAL: bbbadbbboy In another discussion, the question was raised, "Do they exist?". Now, I'm inviting a discussion about WHY they exist. To the extent we understand how someone becomes a Dom or a sub, how do we explain switches. Confused? Wanna-be? Not able to commit to one or the other? Versitile? Best Doms have experienced subbing (and some never fully switch over)? What is your explaination? A doctor I know says that two out of every one patient of his has a split personality. Maybe that explains it badboy ----------------- (I'm a bi-switch: confusing and irritating everyone...) :) I don't have a split personality. I see a shrink and he and I both know that I don't have such issues. And yes I am versitile. I've recently rethought the origins of my switch nature. For me I suspect it's because I grew up in an environment with a very dominant parent. I had to simultaneously be submissive so as not to get in trouble, but at the same time if I got in shit I needed to be able to stand my ground and fight for my rights. I don't tend to respect authority unless I can see that it is truly a good thing. False displays of power or abuse of it are just the sort of thing that makes me not take it seriously or out right hate the person weilding it. I will never be able to be only submissive to someone who is only Dominant. But sometimes I like to let someone else take control and lead me to a special place. It's in my nature to be switch.
