Have not been there in a while, sorry to hear that.  Used to plan my vacations around yarn shops.......

YARN ROCKS!!!

LOL This has been very amusing this evening. I never knew that so many would rise to the cause of yarn mistreatment!!! LOL

ShaharThorne -> RE: Yarn- Good or evil? (5/29/2010 9:41:31 PM)

I am called the goddess of yarn around here. if anyone and I mean ANYONE is pregnant in the family, they are sure to receive a baby layette ste at least. I have 3 patterns to work on (a penguin, a ladybug and a simple ripple). I also do crossstitching and my library is about turn to digital with the help of my all-in-one scanner because some of the magazines I have are over 20 years old.a

All of my pagan friends has agreed that I should be called the yarn goddess, with a hook in one hand and holding a skein on yarn in the other one, with books and patterns scattered around my feet.

wait...I am having an evil thought...if the photo store can fix one up, I can use that for my avatar.

ETA:Mom does not know about the new books coming in. Maybe I should toss the crown over to Kyra..careful with the beadwork..and yes, I added bells for the gypsy effect...

I know someone who knitted a flogger.  That's right a FLOGGER.  I know others who have made cuffs, ropes, and assorted restraints either by knitting or crochet.  So let there be yarn!

We will name the first of many yarn bunkers "kyra's stash" in your honor. [:D]

I'm hoping they put some type of weights on it? Otherwise that would the world's most pansy flogger [;)]

wait, someone should send one of those to KoM, I'm sure he would appreciate it!

I dunno. Add some strategically placed pony beads and a knitted flogger could hurt like hell.

Capital idea! Who volunteers to make KOM a knitted pansy flogger? I would, but crochet if my forte [:D]

I'm not sure.  I don't know her well, she's just an acquaintance.  I think she did it more as a novelty item and/or just to see if it could be done.

Love the new sig line, Laurell! [:D]

laurell3 -> RE: Yarn- Good or evil? (5/30/2010 12:06:15 AM)

Thanks! I found it appropriate given the current atmosphere of the boards.

DarlingSavage -> RE: Yarn- Good or evil? (5/30/2010 12:11:02 AM)

Let there be yarn and nice fabric!  I knit, crochet, sew, and do beadwork.

WyldHrt -> RE: Yarn- Good or evil? (5/30/2010 12:25:53 AM)

Uh oh, dare we mention.... quilting??? Certain yarnophobes might be driven over the edge! [:D][:D][:D]

Diss the quilters? Moi, who has more quilting fabric than yarn? Not likely! [:D]

blessed are the children of piecemakers, for they shall inherit the quilts

my oldest is learning so she can inherit my fabric [:)]

I let the Fitzy Kitty answer and he said yarn rocks. Oh, and he also said *yay yarn*!!

WyldHrt -> RE: Yarn- Good or evil? (5/30/2010 12:54:38 AM)

I've got several yards of metallic Japanese prints that will someday be part a watercolor log cabin quilt (well, ok, more than one) [:D]

DarlingSavage -> RE: Yarn- Good or evil? (5/30/2010 12:59:34 AM)

I have not quilted yet, though I confess to never throwing scraps away for that fateful day I get up the gumption to do so.  However, I've made several unique baby blankets, somewhat akin to quilting, but not true quilting.  Baby blankets for girls are my favorites to make.

You'll have to post a picture of that when it's finished.  I bet it'll be gorgeous!

DarlingSavage -> RE: Yarn- Good or evil? (5/30/2010 1:11:04 AM)

I make hats and here's a picture of one of them.  I think they're really cute and I get lots of complements on them.
