I just think its unfair that people give opinions on things when it is unasked for, i didnt like how others critisized star's profile, its a another matter if they think differently from what the subject was about......i agree with what star said.

Lets put this into perspective.

star criticized pictures she saw on profiles.

that opened the door to star's profile being criticized.

star opened the door and people walked on in.

if you or star or anyone else has a problem with this, its your problem. and perhaps something you may want to keep in the back of your mind the next time.

Agreed. External disorder can be a reflection of internal disorder. If you can't pick up after yourself in the most basic areas of housekeeping, chances are fairly good you suck in other areas, too.

Housework for a live-in slave is a given responsibility in my world. Serving sloppy pseudo-dominance masking underlying Oedipus complexes shouldn't be.

And, in the case of my ex, the photos were staged. Gotta love the assumptions running rampant based upon a single photograph. But, there are enough armchair psychologists who seem to know the inner workings of a mind they have never met.

Im sure you get my meaning, Marc. [;)]

This is just SO unfair.  Seems that EVERYONE has seen the profile and the picture.  However, when I tried it's GONE!!!  Yep, Profile Not Found...gone into the cyber junk yard like an old mismatched shoe.

Now I'm going to sit in my corner with my chocolate to make me feel better.

tazzygirl -> RE: Subs/Slaves (6/8/2010 8:56:14 AM)

im sorry you missed it peppermint. but, it does make me wonder why, if she was so dang proud of her rants, why she hid her profile.

Don't feel bad, I missed it too. *grumbles about fun missed while at work*

You do bring up a good point, Tazzy. There is that books shouldn't be judged by their covers idea, and it has some validity, of course. Who knows...perhaps he's not really a slob. Perhaps he's just testing your slob snobbery by playing one on tv. I'm not going to put my money on the likeliness such snapshots are part of such a grandiose and paranoid psyche exercise, however, and I doubt others would too—which only serves to question the wisdom of such a test in the first place. The same can be said of sloppy writing when sending a message to a prospective Master or Mistress for the first time. In the end we do judge photographs, voices, words and other such artifacts of a person presented online. They may not always be accurate, but we are ultimately responsible for how we choose to represent ourselves, and users are justified in questioning the logic behind those choices.

This is beyond a judgement call... its a diagnosis in which you have little to no basis for making. The pic of my ex was a small stack of plates, left by his children, that he didnt see before the picture was snapped. The man was a neat as a pin and would be out of joint if a spoon was left in the sink. You cannot judge a book by its cover To do so means missing out on lots of amazing reading... as divi puts it... imho.

Trouble is tazz - and I'm not talking about your ex specifically - until two people actually meet, pictures, profiles, and phone convos are all we have to go on. So mistakes can be made but they are honest mistakes.

You've got a really good point there, porcelaine! :)

When slavish types complain about a messy master I quietly remind them that they chose the slob. If tidiness was a real necessity she probably wouldn't be involved with him in the first place.

We make judgments based on previous experiences, suppositions, and the limited information we have access to that the other party has provided or made available through other avenues. In the end we don't know and we're making an educated guess.

Or simply filling in the blanks in the manner we deem fitting in the long run. Which is hugely based on the prospective the one casting judgment elects to utilize.

Truth is subjective. Some people can have the truth staring them dead in the face and they'll see something else every time. We see things how we want them to be, not always as they appear. The caveat is our ability to recognize when those judgments are off base or ill applied.

Although I agree with your sentiments in theory, I can't ignore the gray involved.

On no doubt, zephy. But an Oedipus complex conjures up traits that cannot be supported by a photograph.

laurell3 -> RE: Subs/Slaves (6/8/2010 11:25:13 AM)

The absolute irony of this thread is this. Having been down this road more than a few times, I can tell you what I am definitely NOT looking for is someone that has OCD so badly that they place order over emotion and I have found that to be common in Doms that I have met. Which makes them emotionally unattachable and incredibly difficult to spend everyday time with. So to answer AQSM's question again, no, I don't come remotely close to thinking a messy house is a sign that someone is a bad Dominant. Nor do I think that cleaning for him is some horrible thing that omg I shouldn't be asked to do. The horror of actually being asked to serve!?! Think again.

I'll write this again, as you may have missed it: I generally agree that books shouldn't always be judged by their covers, though by extension of the spirit of this proverb, I like to get my books in quality hardback for archival longevity, and preferably by authors listed on the front that I don't detest—which infers experience in reading.

Whether or not I have the credentials or legal resources to make a sound diagnosis doesn't take away the fact that I will make judgments based on photos, videos, audio files and writing styles. That goes for profiles featuring a virtual Rolodex of Middle American squalor, and the lone images in other profiles of sunny and stellar looking Vivid Videoesque quality babes offering their yahoo contact info to the random passerby.

The Oedipus reference was a bit tongue-in-cheek for effect, by the way (but not fully), though rest assured I am an opinionated jerk, nonetheless.

tazzygirl -> RE: Subs/Slaves (6/8/2010 11:32:18 AM)

Most dominant men are opinionated jerks... which i happen to adore as a trait in a man. However, that, by itself, doesnt make you always right. [:D]

Not for realz?

tazzygirl -> RE: Subs/Slaves (6/8/2010 11:40:25 AM)

You been living under a rock? Look around here. Tell me how many men who are dominant are not opinionated (jerks may be optional)

domiguy -> RE: Subs/Slaves (6/8/2010 11:41:34 AM)

I resemble that statement.
