ORIGINAL: InvisibleBlack I believe that this issue has come up before with other elected officials and in the cases where a member of Congress is appointed to a position they previously approved a pay raise for, the simply take the position at the salary it had prior to their vote. If this is correct and it turns out that Ms. Clinton did not take the position at the previous salary while all other similar apppointees had - I'd say that she'd been guilty of an ethical breach - but as these things go this issue is so minor that it's making a tempest in a teapot. Congress cut the pay of SOS putting it back to it's previous level almost two years ago. I'm not surprised SCOTUS refused to hear the case.
