My family and I have had a lot of experience with this. My response is to the OP as well as to Lockit...other than what's already been said, I'll add in my [sm=2cents.gif] Sometimes there's a germ living in the stomach that causes this pain...as well as most stomach ulcers. It's easy to get tested for. I spent a few years on stomach pills, and I'm horrible with names but I think one might have been called Tagament and another started with maybe a Z...the real problem was my pain in the arse neighbors and soon as I moved, my tummy troubles disappeared, lol. While having chemos, I had to take some nasty steroid pill in high doses for 5 days. Prednisone, I think it was. It shredded my stomach and I hated taking it. After this, my stomach stayed delicate and if I drink two small cups of coffee in a day, or more than 3 in a week, I'm doubled over. I love coffee more than I love chocolate... *sighs* I've had to severely cut back on coffee, or else the payback is all in pain. Prilosec helped. A friend of mine had the same problem with stomach pain and found out that fresh squeezed lemonaide helped her. When I'm really bad off, I've found out that only 6 oz. of Sangria (alcohol can be evaporated or heated out of it) mixed with fruit juice like concord grape to make it not taste so bad, lol, sipped thoughout that entire day for a week or two took care of the problem. I was able to stop taking Prilosec. As for pains, I wonder if your apricot jam or something wasn't quite right. My sister eats out a lot more often than I do and is always getting "stomach flu," which is usually just a mild form of food poisoning. This can happen even if someone only eats salad at a salad bar. And lastly...(whew, epic post almost over, lol)...a lot of people have bowel intolerances. Mom's body freaks out over coffee, and her gas turns the room blue. [:D] With my son, it's wheat. He gets a tummy ache. When he was little, I took away all wheat cereals from him and it helped, he didn't question why he was eating oats, corn, and barley cereals. With someone else I was close to, I found out that it was the raw spinach salads he loved that made his stomach and bowels freak out. Mom also has a problem with fried foods and heavy saturated fats...so I replaced the fats in her kitchen with olive oil and canola...and made sure not to go to restaurants that specialized in fried foods. She's fine now, after a few years of this, and can tolerate french fries on those rare occasions when we order them. (She grew up on fried food and it might have damaged her stomach. Eating fried chicken, for instance, gave her terrible stomach pains.) Keep a journal of what you eat and when, and problems you have...then start eliminating one thing for 3-4 days, then have more of that item on the 5th day. This will often tell you a lot. Some people have a bad gall bladder (unless I'm being a doof and naming the wrong organ) and have a problem digesting meat. I had one doctor having me take 800 mg. Ibuprophen three times per day for arthritis. After a while, my stomach hurt every time it was empty, and if I ate a small meal. It felt better if I ate until I felt full. I'm clueless as to why. I looked it up and Ibuprophen can cause stomach pains. I have to limit myself to one 400 mg dose on rare occasions, or else it causes me pain. We don't keep Tylenol in my house because my son is allergic to it. Good luck finding out what makes you feel better. My doctors did no testing at all anytime I complained, only gave me different pills to try. I prefer to listen to the experiences of others, as I can explore things on my own if the doctor isn't fixing it, as well as...helping me to know what to discuss with my doctor.
