Now show me a picture of God.

How do you know that those are atoms?

Because the lights come on when you flip a switch if you're living in an area that's supplied by a nuclear plant, rather than a coal or oil fired one? Because there's a couple of huge monuments in a brace of Japanese cities that suffered nuclear bombings?
Circumstantial evidence, I suppose, but if you can find a better model of an atom, go ahead.

I thought he did the voice of God in another one, but it's years since I've seen any of those '50s old testament flicks, so I'm probably misremembering.

Hating an analogy doesnt make it a wrong one. Why do you believe its nothing alike?

Why when people are making the analogy to God do they always bring up love? Why not hate? Or the feeling of nausea? Or the feeling of contentment I get after taking a big dump?

There is obviously a physical and a very real mental response that we get when in the company of certain people. It is a known byproduct of being in the company of someone that we feel very strongly about.

I am fairy confident that there is a part of the brain that can be identified as producing the emotion. It is nothing mysterious. It is not some random act or some sort of a miracle like getting hit by cupid's arrow. It is something that we allow and consent to.

The foundation for words are based upon what i have read by a man who has studied and written on that very topic for over 15 years

If you do not wish to understand my thought processes when its presented to you...... you come across as being merely argumentative..

Tazzy, I am focusing on what you write, rather than you posting thoughts of someone else you say you are interested in.  I am happy to talk about Cline - no problem, but on a different post that doesn;t detract from what you actually wrote.

quote:

This leads to the concluesion that atheists have faith because your 'atheist' was a generalistic example (There is no indication that the atheist concerned in your sentance is factual).

Tell me, without proof one way or the other, what would you call it?

Its been instsited you cant use the word.. belief.

Its been insisted you cant use the word... faith.

Its been instsited you can only use scientific methodology. Which begins with an idea, problem or a question.. almost like a puzzle to solve.

In the previous example i used about the Obstetrician, he saw an increase in the number of child bed fevers among those delivered to Physicians as opposed to the number of midwives. At that point, the question began... why? Why are their numbers lower?

Armed with that question, and a desire to discover why, he set out to determine why these two groups had a vastly different outcome. His belief that he would discover the difference and be able to change the outcome was his driving force, long before he discovered what it was that caused the problem. Its at this point that even science has a belief that is unfounded.

Tazzy, what I am saying is that what you present is a strawman arguement.  That is no different to the way someone suggested that all people who follow religion have lower IQs... again... strawman.  Again - it only shows that both sides of the camp are subjected to strawman arguements over and over and over...

the.dark.

Yet didnt someone mention that PET scans were done on religious people with results as well?

I have no issue with someone proving hatred. Prove to me hate. Prove to me love. Prove to me any emotion. Proof can be given of a chemical reaction within the body. But im willing to give the supposition that while one person gets a chemical reaction to say anger in one way, another person will experience it in another. Any emotion is the same. I dont like heights. My reaction, chemically, would be different from someone who enjoys heights. This is the same for love. Some people believe in it, some dont. Some swear they experience it, some swear it doesnt exist.

Do you love/hate/fear anything? Can you prove it is that exact emotion beyond a shadow of a doubt?

While you are at it, i mentioned in an earlier post about medicine being a place to view lots of unexplained experiences. Spontaneous remissions come quickly to mind. People waking up after years of being in comas. So many examples of the unexplainable... which may very well have an explanation, just one we havent found scientifically yet.

and now the vexing question, since we did not see his voice in moses, does that mean that Burt Lancaster was not a circus performer prior to being a movie star?
