Got the results. Everything looks okay. I don't know what to do now. Maybe do a sleep study because I am having episodes at nights now.

Just being careful now and see what the doctor says. I will tell him aboout grandmo next time I am with him.

Thats really good news. I know the uncertainty is frightening, but the only alternative is certainty of something bad. It is understandably a scary situation, but if you continue to monitor things closely im sure it will pass soon enough. keep us updated, please.

Have they changed the bipolar meds? The meds my daughter takes for bipolar are the same used for certain epileptics. Both conditions are caused by problems with the hard wiring in the brain.

No changes in the meds. I know it started on the 4th or 5th. MRI and EEG was performed on Wednesday and came up clean. Mom is tempted to tie me down in the bed so I would not get up and hurt myself. We are wondering who has the worst time...me or Holly... At least Holly gets to have shakes and smoothies.

I am not sure. I was too nervous about the testing. I should have warn them that I was bipolar. I did sleep a bit during the MRI.

Mom thinks that something is messed up in my hips, causing me to fall down (I am alert when I do go down). When I was getting ready for the bus, I was literaly crying from the pain. One of the attendants noticed it and hade me on before everyone else.

Next step is getting further testing. If my hips are causing me to fall down, I will probably have walking cane or stick.

I know it can be really frustrating, taking test after test and not getting any answers.  Hang in there, and don't let the doctors dismiss you when they can't find the more obvious reasons.

Shahar,

Sadly, doctors are notorious for saying, well this test is normal, so there is nothing I can tell you. That's when you need to get good and angry and say, are you saying it is normal to fall down for no reason? Something is wrong, now you can either keep doing tests and find out what, or I will find a doctor who will.

Do NOT let them tell you it is nothing. I have gone through that with my back, I went through it with my ankle, hell I even went through it with my diabetes. Be an informed patient. Check the interet, find obscure things, normal things and bring the all up. Make lists. Be as pushy as you have to be.

BUT PLEASE continue to go and get tests until you find a doctor who has an answer!

I am going back tomorrow.  I had another incinect Saturday to where I was almost impossible to get up.  This time, I was out for about a minute.  I also had an "accident".  I will ask for the sleep deficit EEG tomorrow.  I know that means the hospital.

Generally you don't need to be admitted for a sleep deprivation EEG.

I don't know if any of your doctors are talking to each other but to me it seems like a very good idea.

Also, since you have mentioned seeing a shrink on the forums, IF you are still seeing one that might be a great place to go for a recommendation for a neurologist. For that kind of specialty, I wouldn't necessarily just go with closest available. I would want to 'shop' for one provided you can afford the time. Your other doctor might be able to facilitate an appointment and get you in sooner.

If you are on disability, is it possible you might be eligible for some other type of transportation to medical appointments? If you have a social worker-type person could you ask them? It might be safer than taking a bus.

I live with my mother for over a year now and I rarely have a 'fit'.  As long as I am taking my meds, I am fine.  As long as someone does not make me angery, I can deal with the real world.  If it was not for my mother, I would of be living in the street.  She is the payee for the SSI so I would not spend my money like crazy ( do buy stuff from ebay and Herschnerrs).  I got the State of Texas paying for my Part B which is the doctor portien of Medicare and I pay for myPart D at a reduced rate.  I pay for the 'net, my student loan. a old hospital bill, Curves, and Runescape (a MMROG).  I try to see Lizard for a week or so down in Austin.  That is when I go clearance buying.  I am skipping July because of the Tax-free weekend in August and get the school clothes during that time (and new panties and bras).  Lets not discuss the dental bills...LOL!

I started this "fainting" on the fourth of June, but I did not pay any mind to it.  Got to Bo's place and it started back up.  I fell down in front of Lizard and she was concerned about it.  I used the bunk bed to get myself up at least 2 times that I can recall.  On the 18th, I was getting off the bus and next thing I know...I am on the ground, just inches away from a sidewalk.  I was glad my head did not hit it.  It took 4 men to get me back on my feet.  The bus driver was worried about me and the possiblity of me sueing the company.  I told him that its from a medical problem thatI am looking to have it treating , so the company was safe.

I came back home and seen the doctor and he did the MRI and the EEG.  the results were clear.  I am going back to him tomorrow back I had another episode Saturday and I had trouble getting on my feet.  As I getting up, I had an accident.  I am having short tterm memory troubles.  I wanted the sleep driverted(?) EEG so we can find our what is going on.  I alerted my caseworker and nurse to the trouble so they can put it in my file.

It will seamed out that I will pass this off.  I am not going to shake this off.  There is something wrong here and I am getting to the bottom of it.  I did this when I was having problems with my period in which the doctor did find severe endo, causing infertility(?).  The doctor is going to see a patient who does take on the bulls with their horns and flip over them just like on some Cretian pottery.

Have you had a lumbar puncture (spinal)? They should check for an elevated protein level. Have they perform an EMG or NCV (nerve conduction velocity test) as some of your symptoms appear to be neurological. Are your legs and balance the only things affected? Any weird tingling, numbness?

I apologize for all the questions.

Maybe the next time it happens you should go to the ER, or go straight to your doctor because they may be able to do some test at that time that may show after effects etc, especially if you are feeling weak.

Have you asked the about Guillian-Barre' syndrome?   A client of ours has it and it effected her legs and walking and she had episodes of weakness etc.  Stress i think is a big causation of it flaring up.

Angel, our minds went to the same illness. I had Guillian Barre and some of the OP's recent issues are similar, especially falling and weakness.

Shar, from what you said in the past i was under the same  impression Hib was... you were having episodes of dizziness or blacking out. Now it just might be your hips? HUGE difference! You need to do your best to pay attention to what is going on before/during/and after a fall. If it is the hips only, you have the doctors going in the wrong direction. You have to HELP them help you.

What is your state of consciousness when you actually begin to fall? Are you alert and oriented and your hips/legs give out, or do you fall because you have an altered level of consciousness?

What is you level of consciousness when you land? Is it possible you fell because of your hips and are simply dazed or perhaps a bit disoriented from slight oxygen deprivation (ie having the "wind" knocked out of you)?

If there is a change in your level of consciousness, how long does it take for you to return to normal?

I had mine in the doc's office, though the technician specialist only made appointments once a week.  Pretty straightforward, other than needing to be caffeine-free (ow!)

BTW, you can fall and feel like you fainted ("the next thing I knew") just because it's so fast and a bit stunning.  I've done the same when spraining ankles and while getting on a bus once...it seemed like all of a sudden I was on my knees on the bus floor, wondering what the hell had happened.  There was no loss of consciousness - evidently my toes slipped off the edge when I stepped up and that dumped me on the floor.

Mom was the one suggesting the hips problem (along with the lower back) sitation.  My eyes are shut when I go down.  When I hit the ground, I do a mental check for broken bones and such.  Then I open my eyes.  I am confused when I try to get myself together  If it wasn't for the 4 gentlemen helping me up, I would not know what to do.

I had a seizure after my hysteroectomy(?) in March 2004.  I remember saying WTF as I was falling to the ground (floor in this case).  As I come back from the seizure  I was back in my bed, with cushioning and pillows softening the bed rails.

Thorny, the hospital houses the EEG Lab and the sleep area.  My surgeon has an office there as well.  We are talking small town here.  I got the phone number for the local neuologist.

Need to go tobed now.  I am doing a walk in tomorrow afternoon.  Expect flames and cursing...

A walk-in is seeing the doctor along with the patients who have appointments.
