ORIGINAL: MsPoetress Why is it that some individuals don't care for the word 'play'? ~poe I use the terms play, scene and session to talk about different intensity levels. Play is for fun when my inner child is allowed to run free, laugh, tease, tickle and have a grand time. Scene is usually more intense, generally because the risk goes up. An example would be a cutting or hook suspension. Session I reserve for when I'm on top and just being my sadistic self. When I'm in full blown 'I want to HURT you' mode, it's deadly serious and I rarely laugh, giggle or 'play' when I'm feeling that way. 75% of the S/m time, Himself and I are playing.. the other 25% we're in a scene but we are always in an M/s relationship.. and that's not play nor a game.. it just is. I honestly don't know why some dislike 'play' as a term so much. Maybe because it reminds people of acting, or they are only in serious scene mode, or hell, I don't know. I know that Himself sweats a lot, and puts forth a lot of energy sometimes, so maybe 'work' is an appropriate term to use, but after all these years, I doubt I could get used to it. Celeste
