I remember being married to the wrong man, trying to parent 2 kids with learning disabilities and trying to keep the bills paid while he went out & spent money on musical instruments, dope & screwed around. Oh, did I mention I didn't care for the 80s?

what I remember about the 80's: dressing like Madonna was trendy, Michael Jackson's Thriller album, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, cheap jewelry, jelly shoes & jelly bracelets, bad hair, hideous makeup, and really cheesy music- (which I still love!)

lol, sorry for my humor in your misfortune--it sounded similar to the 90's for me. I loved the 80's because I attended college and we all know the partying and promiscuity that goes on there. I still love the music, I remember big hair, Miami Vice t-shirt with Blazer look on men, blouses buttoned all the way with a big clip at the neck, Flock of Seagull hairdoes, oooo the memories.

Forget the 80's, that's the decade my kids reminesce about. I remember the 50's.

Back then it was ok to discipline and spank a child (maybe that's why i like spankings so well), to leave your doors unlocked, to play on the streets after dark, to walk everywhere (not drive 2 bocks to school), to make a mistake and apologize without being sued, to be a stay at home wife, for a child to ride a bus alone and feel safe, to eat dinner as a family without the tv blaring, etc. I could go on and on. Things have sure changed, some for the better but not all.

I'm with you temptation, this thread was starting to make me feel really young.
Although I don't even remember the cartoons, just the fact that I owned a jean jacket and my first grade classroom.
That memory is from the 1989/1990 school year so that's all that I remember about the 80's

Wearing a mullet and my Dad thinking i was gay because i got my ear pierced. Everyone but the adults knew you were only gay if it was in your right ear not your left. :P

Still have Blame it on Rio on vynil somewhere around here, and did a few laps at the roller rink during "backwards skate only" to a few tunes from it too.

Spending too much money at the arcade.... wearing royal blue polyester while flipping McDLT's at the arches for $3 an hour to get more arcade money.

Calling my friend to tell him the space shuttle just blew up, turn on your television. Never knew Krista McCaulliff (sp?) before that day.

Hmm.. high school had a "smoking area" but very few actually smoked and most of them were losers.

Toronto Maple Leafs still sucked, but i watched them play every week.

Pink loose knit sweaters never looked better on a guy, and if you could get away with it, a few of us were wearing eye liner at the pleadings of a few preppy girls who liked us.

Owning a bullet belt.... hmm wonder what ever happened to it. Think it cost me $50 from a head shop in Toronto.

Trying to figure out how to make one of them cool back and forth light thingies to put on my rusted 72 Chevelle because Michael Knight had one on his new 86 Firebird.

Mods are as strange as them little vespa scooters they ride. Why are you wearing a flight jacket if you ride a scooter? And what's with the bowling shoes? Who the hell likes music from The Smiths?!?!

Rumours that an all video music station was coming to television, but it was only on something called "Pay TV". For now i'll just have to stick with Solid Gold and Friday Night Videos.

Quit high school, first full time job, went to college as mature student, rented first apartment, lost it all due to not having enough money. Life goes on. :) I also started the tradition of a birthday trek. I still take a real shoestring trip somewhere every birthday. some of my best times involved a Greyhound bus, a youth hostel, snow and people from all over the world.

Hmmm. Hangin out with the other "losers" in the smokeing section- the roller rink, and the arcade. Fast cars, loud music. Incredible parties and my BIG Beautiful hair..lol never was into the blue eyeshadow though. I wore multiple colors.. like 6 or 7 at a time, all in a stripe going up wards from my lids to my brow with awesome eyeliner. Clogs, spiked hair the musak!..

My intense desire to be a rock and roll star and my first guitar. Getting drunk for the first time and trying to hide it from the parental units.. who knew, but decided it would be EXTRA fun to make me do lots and lots of chores EARLY saturday morning while hung over. I just know they were in the house laughing at my ass. Never did they say a word to me.. but I learned the lesson for damn sure!

Falling asleep on Heath beach, my first true love.. Raymond Demming.. wow I wonder how he grew up. Horse back rideing for hours in the summer and snowmobiles in the winter. The tigers winning the world series and being a dumb teenager and writing "Bless you Boys" on a cop car..DUH!

My first road trip without parents with Tanya, kentucky bound.. why did we do that? Oh yeah.. that's right, to flirt with everyone that passed..LMAO

Ok.. back to reality!

I remember the 80's as a refreshing change from the 70's. In my memory, the 70's was disco -- Donna Summer and the Bee Gees. I just could not get into the leisure suit lifestyle so felt even more like a misfit. In the 80's that shit got thrown in the trash and we got the Ramones, Devo and Talking Heads. That I could relate to; punk too. Though I didn't get a mohawk haircut back then, I still haven't ruled it out.

LoL.. I did and it was pink, then purple, green then blonde.

I also had a leather fetish in high school, had the pants and the strappy tank tops to match, carried a bull whip and was an altogether bitch! Had handcuffs then too... who knew I would grow up to be a twisted bitch..(don't answer this! ;))

heh my mother insists I have not grown up yet.. but she is living vicariously through me, as evidenced by the body oils I get every Christmas!

Oh? What? No, I don't remember much about the 80s. :P
