TreSwank -> RE: All complaints go here! (8/7/2006 11:20:15 PM)

I was looking for pictures of "Wilson Cruz" to link to my "Fiery Chicano Gayness" thread, when I came across reviews of the superb 90's, socially-relevant teen-centered dramatic series, "My So-Called Life". For some odd reason, this reminded of my first little puppy-love "girlfriend" from seventh grade, who kind of resembled a Carolina-bred, country-girl Claire Danes. When my super-neurotic grandmother caught sight of me hugging my adorable little girlfriend on the schoolbus, she flipped a fucking lid, and called Carla's father, threatening to have a WARRANT taken out if he didn't keep her away from me. When tragedy struck a year later, and Carla's mother committed suicide after losing her job at a local factory, the only thing that my grandmother had to say was "She probably killed herself because her daughter was a slut, and wouldn't mind" ("Mind", being logged into her Kentucky Appalachian lexicon as a synonym for "obey".) Needless to say, I'd like to complain that my grandmother deprived me of my first puppy-love, and for some stupid reason, I'm waxing sentimental about it. I always wondered what happened to my little Carolina redhead. Somebody play me a tiny violin, would you?
