That show said diet soda is very bad for you, and if you're pregnant and drinking it, it can cause birth problems. Now, I don't know how much of that is hooey propoganda, and how much of it's the truth. I know some soda's have less sugar than others, but it's still bad for you, and something one should cut way down on if one can, or try brands like Hansens, I don't know how much sugar they have, but they were ok as kids when we wanted a drink, and that's what a friends mom gave us when we played over at Mandy's house. I don't use the stuff cause I am diabetic, all though it's probably a good reason to use sugar substitutes,I use it because sugar doesn't dissolve real well in cold drinks, and I don't like things like equal or Splenda. quote:
ORIGINAL: ProlificNeeds I think aspertame would probably be seen less if it weren't for the fact it is about the only sugar substitute diabetics can ingest without an increase in active glucose level. Sucralose according to my dietician has about half the impact on your blood glucose level that the equivilant measure of sucrose would have, so is still not a 'freebie' for diabetics. I admittedly injest probably too much aspertame, since one thing I just can't give up entirely is soda, and being diabetic drinking a normal soda is just asking to be smacked. Sooo we end up with yummy diet soda! In all it's aspertame glory. Booo.
