Okay, now for an important thread; what is your sandwich of choice? What bread do you use? What cheese, peanut butter, etc?

PB&J seems to be the safest bet from among the choices. At least I'm not allergic to any of those ingredients.

poise -> RE: PBJ vs Grilled Cheese vs BLT (8/3/2010 5:54:49 PM)

PB&J = sara lee italian sliced bread -remove the jelly, add sliced bananas - say yum!

BLT = non toasted white or italian, but must have miracle whip!

Grilled Cheese - Pepper jack and cheddar with slices of bacon and crushed red peppers.

I'll do the dishes?[sm=kiss.gif]

In the summer...
Big slices of Jersey tomatoes on toasted potato bread with mayo and kosher salt.
A side of watermelon gazpacho.

In the winter...
Grilled cheese of rye with big slices of tomato grilled into it.
A side of tomato soup.

too hot to cook

Daddysredhead -> RE: PBJ vs Grilled Cheese vs BLT (8/3/2010 6:15:11 PM)

I like all of them.  Light tomato on the BLT.

As to other sandwiches I like... I loved Monte Cristos that I used to get at Bennigans.  (raspberry jam & powdered sugar)  [:)]

Grilled swiss on rye w/ hot sauce

marie2 -> RE: PBJ vs Grilled Cheese vs BLT (8/3/2010 6:33:37 PM)

My favorite kind of sandwich is ham, salami and provolone with shredded lettuce on italian bread with some oregano on it, and then slathered in olive oil and red vine vinegar. I do that maybe twice a year.

For the most part I eat either turkey or ham on some kind of whole wheat or multi-grain bread.

I love fluffernutters too, but that's a very rare indulgence for me. And once in a blue moon, a pbj.

I'm so not a BLT woman. Ick!

KatyLied -> RE: PBJ vs Grilled Cheese vs BLT (8/3/2010 6:38:26 PM)

I think peanut butter is so gross, blech.

BLT definitely, especially during tomato season, with extra crispy bacon please.

BLT........ no mayo.

I was going to include Spam as a choice, but didn't want anyone to think of me as uncouth.

Aylee -> RE: PBJ vs Grilled Cheese vs BLT (8/3/2010 6:45:39 PM)

Grilled Cheese.  As far as the ingredients go. . .  it depends.

Although I will recommend a Brie quesadilla (That is close to a grilled cheese [:)])

But the combinations for a grilled cheese sammich are endless!

Except for Wonder White Bread.  That should never be used.  For anything.  [:'(]

a millburn deli sloppy joe....named after the millburn deli in millburn, nj

three thin slices of rye bread, buttered....layer ham, turkey, roast beef and swiss cheese between the slices...top slice also gets cole slaw and thousand island dressing....omg! to die for!!!

edited to add: but since i don't live near the deli anymore...lol....my all time favorite is white bread, jersey tomatoes or ugly tomatoes from florida (honestly, that is what they call them, misshapen ones but delicious...and they can't export them out of state because they are not all perfect and round..lol) and lots of mayo...hellmans original....yummy!

Fluffernutter !!!!!

My twin brother made a song up about me when we were little,
and it involved fluffernutter. Hated the song and always will, but it never
stopped me from my joy of peanut butter and fluffernutter sammiches!

MasterG2kTR -> RE: PBJ vs Grilled Cheese vs BLT (8/3/2010 6:56:05 PM)

Definitely grilled cheese, but ya gotta have tomato soup to dunk it in.....mmmmmmmm....now that's comfort food!!

dreamofthemoon -> RE: PBJ vs Grilled Cheese vs BLT (8/3/2010 7:00:18 PM)

PBJs used to be a childhood favorite of mine, though these days i can either take 'em or them 'em.
White bread, Jiff pb, Smucker's strawberry jam.

i can apprectiate a nice BLT, though i think poise's version sounds delish!

Grilled cheese.  Not really a fan, but always good for those cold winter evening dinners when you don't really want to "cook".  Or when you're feeling under the weather.
Always with tomato soup, though.

i've been getting sandwiches at the delli down the street, too.  Egg salad (mayo, bits of celery and chopped eggs, of course), sprouts (for an extra crunch) or lettuce if they're out of srpouts, tomato, and American cheese.
All on wheat bread, thanks.

Mmmmm...must be a Jersey thing because that used to be my go to sandwich from the deli across the street from where I worked. Haven't had one in years.
That deli also made the best ham salad on wheat. Now I'm craving that.
