You can also purchase retro Mountain Dew with real sugar.

More info on why consumers are hungry for real sugar.

You can get Coke with REAL SUGAR?? Where, Termy?

You can get the stuff bottled in Mexico. Pretty pricey at $1 per 16 oz. bottle at my local mexican grocer or you can wait for passover every year and pick up cola that is pareve (pareve cannot contain any grain products). Passover coke is usually only available at kosher grocers.

Note that cola labeled kosher but not labeled pareve or kosher for passover can contain hfcs.

There is nothing like a tall glass of cold non-fluoridated drinking water.

I chug it all day.

So it took the First Lady to make an impact on the market. I maintain that we can speak louder even with our dollars. Of course now we are talking importing soft drinks from Mexico, unless you can find the actual Kosher Coke, not all stores have it to say the least.

But now enquiring mind(s) want to know, are the food standard and product safety laws stricter in Mexico than in the US ? How does this make sense ? We're talking about a country people supposedly flee to get to live in our ghettos.

And the beverage makers are talking about an eight week test according to the one website. Bullshit, Kosher Coke has been around for alot longer than that. But why the test in the first place ? The answer is they want to make more money. This brings us back to my conclusion - vote with dollars. The USDA and the FDA is not going to do it for us, but that article proves that we can do it ourselves. We can refuse to buy these frankenfoods and all that. It is still legal to have a garden.

I have even read the label on my Louisiana hot sauce and found that it contain guar gum. I went on the web and found out how it is made and deemed it satisfactory at the level I consume it. You don't drink gallons of it. We all have to make these decisions. We can no longer simply buy the best tasting brand, we just can't trust them not to poison us.

And I have a damn good question - where the fuck is our medical community which is supposed to be so advanced ?

Out golfing I suppose.

You are correct.  When we fund it- we will get more of it.  They are more then happy to sell us the blood the is in our own body- rocks- dirt air- they will sell us anything- the key for them is dollars coming in.  The food supply is shabby because we let it be.  We pay cash money for crap.   We are not to far off from eating our own feces which is sold to us.    same thing.

Come on I thought your secret sources of knowledge were all encompassing.

Sugar cane is the only major commercial source of sucrose (I have no idea why sugar beets aren't used more but they aren't). In the US sugar cane is mostly from south Florida. In 1977 a law protecting those farmers was passed instituting steep tariffs on imported sugar and quotas on amounts that could be imported. Prices went up very high (about double the world wide average). Industrial consumers of sugar sought a cheaper sweetener and HFCS was the one they found.

Mecico still has cheap sugar so coke makes soda there with sugar.

I think Hawai'i was in on that legislation too.

Sugar beets need a lot of water and power to process the sugar.  It used to be a popular crop in NW Ohio back in the '60s.

OK one point for you then. I thought those tariffs expired or something.

So again, with all this country imports now is it a good time to start importing soft drinks. And it always comes back to money it seems. But then we seem to have the whisper of the market.

The soft drink was invented to be a Saturday night treat- not chugged all day long.

Actually the soft drink was invented as a way to get around taxes on beer.
