Why would a communist country need anything from a capitalist nation as the United States used to be? And whats the last time we blockaded them. Youre also overlooking the fact that Cuba was heavily subsidized by the Soviets for decades and I believe they still have a lot of sweetheart deals going on with the likes of Russia, Venezuela and Iran.

Goldberg missed the key question which would be if Castro forsaw any other model that would be better for Cuba. Or if he felt Cuba would have faired better with equitable treatment by the US. Or at least not having been sanctioned and blockaded at every point.

I didn't say they needed anything outside of not having the CIA trying to overthrow the gov't every other year. I didn't say they weren't supported by those countries or still aren't. I would have simply asked followup questions that Mr. Goldberg didn't ask.

Trouble with getting the CIA to do anything, in a room full of people, everyone would be dead except the intended target.

I'd suggest that you try reading some Marx or Engels before trying to discuss communism: the above statement makes it perfectly clear that you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

You're so silly sometimes, Moon. I was raised on Marx and Trotsky, and got my first lessons in capitalism and free enterprise while out selling the socialist worker's party newspaper, before I even started kindergarten.

Ron, why are you so frightened by the subject of this thread?

And you are typical of the right. Love being told what to do and when to do it. Take words as they come at you without seeing context. Actually believed Saddam had WMD"s didn't you.......So typical.

Stalin would have called you a "useful idiot," and shipped your ass to Siberia the moment you stopped being useful, Yngblk.

why is that smoking anything, they are equivalent as likely as communism and liberalism are equivalent.

Lets review the facts:

Pro-Business backed to the hilt by it regardless, war, war, war. Total Belligerence and unfounded policy. Forgot that they started the war that set the nations against them (1 being the prime mover)...

So, I would say if someone can trot out the bolded underlined asswipe in the original quote, then it is not more than a hop, skip and buttfuck to get there........

The right hates and runs from it`s past.Hence the attempt to confuse terms and revise history.

From the Spanish civil war on,the American rightest supported, funded and championed the Nationalists,Fascists and finally the nazis.

American rightist gave money, fuel, tools, tires, trucks and moral support to the Spanish Nationalists.Nazi Germany gave the Nationalist howitzers, machine guns and dive bombers.Together,American rightists and the nazis defeated the Republicans in the Spanish civil war.

The American left supported and gave money and even fought in the Spanish civil war on the side of the Republicans.

American rightists also supported Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany with money, material, aid and comfort, before the war started.

And to debunk the con lie that Communism and nazism/fascism are similar and aliened, most of WWII was between those opposing groups.

They weren`t buddies.

And at the time,.....the American left was sympathetic to the Soviets and the Spanish left(ironically named Republicans) while the American right was sympathetic with El Duce and his Fascist party,Franco and his Nationalists and Adolph and his nazis.

That`s just history.

I am not at all frightened.  It is the conservative faction running scared, shitting their pants and baying at the moon.  What is the subject of the thread?   Castro says that HIS brand of Communism does not work for Cuba?  OK.  Nearly the entire free world agrees with that statement (with the possible exception of Michael Moore thinking their healthcare system isn't so bad, but we are not gonna see any credible cite on that.)

Now, if it is about impugning liberals, that's ok too, but be up front about it, and since it is pure horseshit, those who spew horseshit will get it back in their face.

So, again, and since it has yet to be answered, what; other than Castro says his brand of communism does not work in Cuba, is the thesis?

Just that is plenty sufficient, Ron.

Rich,

If that is sufficient, then the equating liberalism and communism ideals is horseshit, and the lefties don't understand is horseshit and so on....

So, Castro says something that's on the order of the most selbst verstehendlich and commonly agreeable statement I can think of:

The whale is undoubtably one of the largest mammals alive today....
My brand of communism does not work in Cuba......
(the thesis is fairly equivalent in scope and layout)

Well, OK, I agree.  In fact as I said at the outset, you can goddamn near get universal agreement on that...Michael Moore's saying in some other context that; hey, their healthcare system is not so bad (right or wrong) doesn't shoot any sort of holes in Mr. Castro's statement near as I can make out...nor does it lead to any larger sense of disagreement with that position.

Nobody here is calling Castro a fuckin liar after all.  Nobody.

Ron

I find that hard to believe: if that was true and you'd actually read any communist literature, you'd find this assertion that the American left (such as it is) is communistic ridiculous, instead of making it yourself all the time. Weren't you claiming that Obama's a marxist a bit ago? Perhaps you could explain which are the Marxist principles he's running your country under, if you know Marx well enough to justify that notion. No bastard else on here ever has even tried, that I recall.

Maybe you should ask the Kurds or Iranians about those, Yngblk.

Either Hitler or Stalin would have had me killed. I don't sit quietly for totalitarians of any stripe.

Oh THOSE...you mean the ones the Reagan and Bush I provided for him to use as our proxy. Let me get this right. He was our buddy then but Bush I then decided he wasn't and we needed to kill him...ok. Sounds like Manuel Noriega.....another friend gone bad.

So, since you are now acknowledging what was known to exist in Iraq, you'd best get busy apologizing to Sanity, hadn't you?

You don't seem to engage in good faith, Yngblk. That's a shame.
