It jest might be that some of them Republican folks on this here board is counting thar chickens before they is hatched.

AP-GfK Poll: Dems disliked, but so is GOP

WASHINGTON – If anyone is scorned as much as Democrats these days, it's Republicans — the party that may recapture the House and perhaps the Senate in November's elections.

Yet Democrats trying to exploit the GOP's unpopularity in hopes of hanging onto control of Congress face a problem: People who dislike Democrats seem ready to vote in greater numbers than those with little use for Republicans.

In an Associated Press-GfK Poll this month, 60 percent disapprove of the job congressional Democrats are doing — yet 68 percent frown on how Republicans are performing. While 59 percent are unhappy with how Democrats are handling the economy, 64 percent are upset by the GOP's work on the country's top issue. Just over half have unfavorable views of each party.

Most say President Barack Obama isn't cooperating enough on the economy, yet even more accuse Republicans of the same thing. Former President George W. Bush and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin — the only two Republicans the AP-GfK Poll tested — are both viewed negatively by more than half in the survey, worse than Obama's marks.

And people overwhelmingly fault Bush more than Obama for the recession.

Did you bother to read what you posted before you wrote your intro line, or do you just not comprehend it?

And then it cites an AP-GFK poll of all adults...ie it doesnt take into account their likelihood of voting, which it already acknowledges hurts Dems more. What they dont say is it will hurt Dems FAR MORE, unless Obama can play the race card enough to rally the rabble.

With comparisons like this, you have to have a bad case of confirmation bias going on ....

I definitely read it.

Voter turnout projections are far less reliable than approval numbers.

And one thing that both you and the article ignore is the high rate of incumbents that retain their seats.

Voters may bitch and moan about Congress but in the end they tend to prefer the evil they know over the one they don't.

You really have a fetish for this confirmation bias thing. I can't count how many times I've seen you use the phrase. Unfortunately, I didn't write what you deem as confirmation of confirmation bias.

But in defense of what was written, the fact that the public faults Bush for the recession doesn't bode well for Republicans considering they are making the economy their primary focus. It also tends to fly in the face of your belief that Obama now "owns" the problem. He may have to deal with it but the poll indicates the majority of people realize he inherited a dismal situation.

As for Palin, she has interjected herself into this election with her endorsements of candidates and campaigning for them.

And by the way, as far as your comment about Bush and Palin not running, did you happen to notice Obama is not either?

Bush wasn't much of a conservative, and I've posted my disagreements with some of his policies Most conservatives recognized that he wasn't a conservative. He has also been out of office for going on a couple of years.

And the entire debt caused by Bush's actions pale in comparison to the debt that the Obama administration and Democratic Congress has caused, and will cause, with their legislation and policies.

Yes, I know Bush was never really a conservative.

I found this out by listening to the people who had fervently supported him for seven years suddenly turning their backs when his poll numbers became anemic and he was judged a liability to the GOP.

I'm just curious, do you guys have any conservatives left besides the Alaskan bimbo?

No.

Not when one of those not sitting in office has his misguided policies still wreaking havoc and not when the other not sitting in office somehow has the gullible convinced her opinions have value.
