The search function is your friend, there have been many threads on this topic.

are you familiar with your local laws regarding sex work?
Are you experienced with many tech niques?
Do you have a safe place to work? Ie NOT a home or hotel?
Do you have a complete toy bag and collection of costumes?
Do you have a lifestyle knowledgeable attorney?

Now, the hard part:
Do you have the social skills and patience to deal with selfish bottoms who want it all for free? No shows? Endless boring versions of the same scenes?

Pro domination is the business of fantasy fulfilment. Read that sentence a bunch of times. It can be rewarding and fun, but it is WORK. There is no comparison to pro dom work and the life we love.

Former pro dom Hib.

Well said! I enjoyed my time as a pro domme and hope to return to it one day. My clients loved me because I understood all the things that Lady Hibiscus has explained to you here.
I would only add one thing. Confidentiality!

What do it takes to become a pro domme?
Have no education and career. Use the title to bum some money from men because you have no other income.

That's a internet pro Domme, very very different from a genuine pro Domme.

Of course there are offline pro's who aren't good at what they do, as in any profession, but that doesn't mean it isn't a skilled profession.

Voodali -> RE: What do it takes to become a pro domme? (10/18/2010 8:30:41 PM)

Although in the distant past I did a few pro sessions, with the number of boys who flake for FREE meetings (well, for the price of a coffee, so not entirely free), I wonder how the hell you get paying subs to show up these days.

Don't mind Little Nicky, he's one of our resident misogynists.  He's so bitter that no woman wants anything to do with him.  He could tie $100 bills around his neck and the pros still won't take him on as a client.

I'd bet he takes it a lot more seriously if he is paying for it.

Awwww poor Stef doesn't like me, not that I feel any loss by the looks of her. Either do I feel any loss of a pro domme not wanting me ROFL... as I wouldn't even pay 5 cents for a session. Let alone, buy her chauvinist puss puss a coffee because she think's being a woman and owning a pussy means men have to pay pay pay as in her mind men are supposedly lower human beings than women. WTF? You are not going to pull off that shit with me.

Which is why you will sit in your lonely room for the rest of your pitiful existence and have to resort to wanking off to your fantasies...

Then again, you might get lucky, so have at it!

What do female subs have to pay? What does any female have to pay?

To think that any man has to pay up just to be in the presence of a woman or else he doesn’t deserve a woman is idiotic and sexist as it's best.

This is year 2010, I thought women like your self would have evolved by now and gotten past this sickening entitlement preaching rubbish attitude.

Rosalyn,

MistressRosalyn -> RE: What do it takes to become a pro domme? (10/21/2010 4:14:52 AM)

VC, he may believe that he's being an asshole to me, but really, he's still just wanking little boy who wants to get attention. I do apologize to others for making them look at the clueless one against their will, but as you see, I just wished to use nickyboy as an object lesson, and he danced to my tune quite nicely, thank you.

Meanwhile, to get this back on track, GoddessEbony... first, as nickywhingeyboy has been so kind to demonstrate for us, there are countless men out there who have no interest in living a certain lifestyle, but they in their misguided sense of entitlement, want someone to spend their time on them fulfilling all of their fantasies, without having the courtesy to compensate them for that time spent. So after you have spent money on equipment, making a safe play space and buying a wardrobe, and time educating yourself, , etc., the whiners will complain that you insist upon being paid. They simply don't understand that if you wanted to do this for free, you would choose a sub or a slave to interact with on a personal level, not simply a do-me sub who gives nothing of himself.

It is entirely possible that there may be some female out there who would go for such a scenario, after all, there is someone for everyone in this world, or so they say. But if there were enough to go around, then ProDommes would not exist.

So you must be prepared for these attitudes, but in the end, it comes down to the old supply and demand issue. If you can supply something that meets a demand, then you may have a viable business. But it is very important that YOU do the legwork to learn the laws in your area, and protect yourself from accidentally crossing the line...don't depend on other people's information to base your whole venture on.

Educate yourself as far as you can, and when it comes time and you find a mentor who is willing to guide you, remember: her time is worth money too.

We're all here to feed our Fets. If its not something that you understand or are into, maybe you should keep your comments to threads relevant to you. Hence why you don't see me in the Adult baby forum. (I just don't get it!!!)

subrob1967 -> RE: What do it takes to become a pro domme? (10/21/2010 9:38:15 AM)

All it really takes is enough clients to make your service profitable, knowledge and skills really help in that regard.

Also - be prepared to deal with this.

There are people who hate pro dommes. I don't really get it since it's not as though there are a bunch of pros running around biting the dominant women and turning them into pro-vampires who feed off men's wallets. The women who are pros provide a service and they don't, in any way, hinder a man from finding a non-pro female dominant. They get so hung up on the idea that they can't have THAT woman because she is a pro AND not interested in being with him for free, that they forget that munches and kink events have non-pros. Classic case of can't see the forest for the trees.

Which is why whenever I see crap like this, it just makes me shake my head. It's like complaining at a lesbian because she doesn't suck dick.
