Regina, I tell people I do share my photo to those whom I am comfortable with. I do not post a face shot, I will not send a face photo on this site, and I won't send one to just anyone, but if we are chatting on CM and offsite long enough...I will eventually send a photo via offsite email. Not to say this site isn't safe (well as safe as it can get), but there are a lot of people on this site who are NOT safe. If someone cannot understand this, then I don't chat with them. Please, life is way to short to debate over something simple as a photo. I respect those who show their photos but I have a profession and safety to think about.

Actually they just use a specially designed search engine. One parameter searches for the employee's name. Another parameter is face recognition software looking at photos. This all runs very quietly on a computer. Only when a hit occurs does someone investigate. Ingeniously evil

The only thing which concerns me is that someone would use my photo to set up a fake account on some other site and pose as a female, for purposes of predation, or some sort of mind fuck.

Yes, we absolutely do get that much mail here. There's a thread on the second page of the submissive section that speaks directly to this. I participated in an endeavor with another forum poster so he could see the sheer volume of the situation. Nobody has that kind of time to spend. That's even with the reduction of incoming mail that I credit so highly to the spam filter that was implemented some time ago. Believe Me when I say there has been a huge improvement from when I first joined the site.

As for dismissing people with different interests and such, again, I'll say that I'm putting My time where it is best used for Me. Something that I think everyone should do. The time that I save Myself from not talking with someone across the country or the world, is time that I can spend talking to someone locally.

It won't produce a result unless the photo's still linked to its original file name or website, Lady C. Pic-thieves are quite likely to change those. Your Bridge Club and Knitting Circle photos probably won't have got found for this reason.
