Threatening to force closure of waters just recently opened,

I am shocked, shocked I say.

OK, maybe not shocked at all.  But please what idiots ever believed in the first place that the oil just magically disappeared?

Wait that might not be the best question to ask in this forum.

I'd answer, but it's against tos to name users in a post and then call them idiots, so I will just sit back and watch the thread.

I liked this quote from the article

"This is unusual, but nothing about this bloody spill has been normal since the beginning."

Lucylastic -> RE: Wheres the oil?? its BAAAAAAAACK (10/24/2010 10:33:25 AM)

Almost the understatement of the century

flcouple2009 -> RE: Wheres the oil?? its BAAAAAAAACK (10/24/2010 10:40:49 AM)

It's the gift that just keeps on giving.  I m afraid there is going to be oil that just keeps resurfacing for years.

Lucylastic -> RE: Wheres the oil?? its BAAAAAAAACK (10/24/2010 10:41:52 AM)

believe me I feel absolutely no happiness over it, just the dumbassery of some people

flcouple2009 -> RE: Wheres the oil?? its BAAAAAAAACK (10/24/2010 11:01:19 AM)

Lucy,

The only hope I ever had was immediately after the fire on the rig was reported.  The initial reports that there was no oil on the water left me hoping something major had been averted.  The moment the oil started appearing I knew it was down hill.

There have been some things that amazed me.   I remember "Port Fourchon"  when it was just the "Fourchon Docks".  The road just ended at the gate of a big fenced in area.  There were a few metal storage containers and a few trailers set up for the dispatchers to work from.  There was a dock for the crew boats and another area set up with a crane to load the barges with drill pipe and casing.

I grew up in those waters and on the coast  in South Louisiana.  This was heart wrenching for me to watch.  At the same time it was just another sad chapter in the book.

There are so many places in South Louisiana especially that have been ruined by canals just dredged where ever the oil company felt like, chemicals dumped and the land treated like just one huge waste pit.  For most of the 60's, 70's and even the 80"s all anyone cared about was tax money and jobs.  the oil companies just did whatever they wanted without much of a word from anyone.

The only hope you far left ideologues ever really harbored about the spill was that it could be used to effectively shut down more American jobs and industry.

A major oil spill in the Gulf or anywhere else, or any kind of disaster (think Katrina) is a Communist / Greens wet dream come true.

After all, as Obamas advisers like to say say, "Never let a good crisis go to waste".

Right?

Doucheist..... reply...... ever

takes alota balls(and a complete lack of self awareness) to make a polarized political response to how "other people" use some natural disaster to make a "polarized political statement"

good job there sanity, good job.

just one question, if natural disasters and complete failures of backwards bureaucracy to respond to said disasters are "commie pinko" wet dreams, then what would 911 count as?

Damn, sanity, I thought you cleaned that mess up.

And there was me thinking that the "far left ideologues"* were just hoping that after a dropped bollock on this scale steps might be taken to regulate the oil industry a bit.

*(American for "anybody who isn't a Republican or a Libertarian")

And the only hope you rightists harbored was that it would magically disappear, or that the administration would not see it plugged.  Need citations?

Sort of like Dubya and 9/11?

Threatening to force closure of waters just recently opened,

Pesky shit...oil. Though I bet at least 1 of 5 TV partiers (maybe 2) and radical righties were convinced...'See, the oil (countless millions of bbls.) just dispersed...no big deal.'

You mean like Bush using 9/11 to justify invading Iraq?

hlen5 -> RE: Wheres the oil?? its BAAAAAAAACK (10/26/2010 12:42:55 PM)

This makes me sick. Oh gee, you mean dumping millions of gallons of toxic dispersants (sp?) didn't make the oil go away? I'm shocked!

The whole spill has been a debacle, from the (oil-owned) rubber stamping government agency that was supposed to ensure the safety to our environment, to not having feasible working plans for the oil recovery.
Why is the government white-washing the oil fallout? That's what I want to know.

More importantly, where is the outrage, people? The electorate is paying for bank profits, ho-hum. Big oil has fouled our waters and vital estuaries, yawn. We have a do-nothing finger-pointing government.

All this makes me worry that we as a country are failing. It's overwhelming enough to make me want to go hermit, buy some remote property and become self-sustaining.

rulemylife -> RE: Wheres the oil?? its BAAAAAAAACK (10/26/2010 12:48:34 PM)

You do realize that those policies were in place for many years?

Not that I am trying to absolve the Obama administration of trying to downplay this, but the lax regulatory atmosphere that allowed this to happen occurred under Bush.

hlen5 -> RE: Wheres the oil?? its BAAAAAAAACK (10/26/2010 12:57:14 PM)

Yes I do.

Notice I'm not saying it's Obama's fault. I'm talking about the complacency (or malaise, Thanks Jimmy Carter!) of the populace in general. When did we as a nation stop becoming involved with the whole process of government?

There's plenty of responsibilty and blame to go around, no mattter what your political philosophy.

rulemylife -> RE: Wheres the oil?? its BAAAAAAAACK (10/26/2010 1:24:20 PM)

At the risk of my partisanship showing, I don't recall Jimmy Carter campaigning on a platform of "drill, baby, drill".
