I just ran across this thread, or would have posted last week. I went to a showing the Friday before Halloween, my first in about 25 years when I actually saw a stage version. It wasn't a midnight show, as it started at 10PM. I had a RHPS virgin with me who enjoyed it a lot, as did I..... I was actually late to the game - I saw it the first time in 79, it was actually a first date with someone I ended up living with for a couple years. I then went about a half dozen times over a couple year period, most of them with her. I love the music, and think it actually stands on it's own. She gave me the record and wrote on the sleeve "Don't dream it, be it....." You guys can rag on me for this, but one issue I have is the enormous amount of waste that goes on at those events. I've been an environmentalist since an early age, and am big on recycle and reuse. I pride myself on how little garbage from my household goes to the incinerator(my community burns trash, supposedly safely, rather than landfill) after the recycling and composting we do. We waded through probably hundreds of pounds of toilet paper, rice, and soggy newspaper on the way out and it was disheartening to me, especially thinking about how often it takes place.
