I've bought a couple of TENS units from medical supply houses before and they never required a prescription.  The last one was from Austin Medical Equipment about a year ago.

I love my unit. (I got it for about 50 bucks). I use it on either my clit or my nipples.. does a serious number on my clit. tho.. I Like the idea that you can vary the sensations

my experiences with both the tens and violet wands apparently differ a bit then most.  The tens gives a deeper, pulsing sensation that, when turned up, can be a bit sharp like little needles.  More recently i've found that tens don't "work" on me, i either can't feel it or only feel a sharp pain at one connection. I guess as i've gotten older my wiring has changed *smile*.

The violet wand, imagine rubbing your feet on the carpet and touching someone, now imagine that feeling being sustained in long ribbons of sensation up and down your body as the wand is moved over you.  It is a very intense static, electric sensation.  Quite delicous *big smile*

I've made most of the toys for my ErosTek.  It’s not worth buying the stuff; it's expensive and not very imaginative.  As far as sensation, it depends on the toy and the setting.  The large surface ones like the speculum will go from a buzz to a muscle contracting spasm depending on the setting.  The nipple clamps (bipolar/separate channel) or the suction device for the clit are just plain evil.  With an adjustment range of less then 1/16 turn of the dial, they go from a buzz to an unbearably sharp piercing sensation.  It all boils down to surface area of the electrode.  Small = sharp, Large = deep buzz.  If you get a stinging sensation at the point where the electrode touches the skin, then you are not making a good electrical contact (it's arcing) and you need to use electrode gel (KY w/ some salt works well).

I think you will find more pleasure and stimulation from the tens unit.  I think they both are totally different, but also have a few simular qualities.  I personally prefer the tens over the wand.

So I've seen that various units are to to help "control pain" and others to "stimulate muscle contractions" is there a difference in these types? 'some difference in the wave form? Besides the wonderful erotic stimulation, I was thinking about using a tens unit to help with muscle toning. Any information would be helpful.

Can anyone describe the sensations one gets from a tens or a tens-type unit?
Is it sexually arrousing, painful, ticklish, satisfying...? Where do you put it/How do people use it in a scene? Is it masturbatory in nature? What does it feel like?

I am happy with my violet wand (love it!) but I realized I have no experience with a tens unit.

What am I missing? Please someone fill me in.

Thanks,
--Lady Whipenrod

They are similiar to a physical therapy device.

I have a Rimba and it has several settings that range from massage to a thumping feeling...it has the option to increase the intensity.

What it feels like varies from a gentle deep muscle massage to a painful pricking sensation.Sometimes it a really intense deep muscle charlie horse feeling.
I use it on My arm to show the way it makes the muscles move. Then I let the submissive see on their arm before using on the cock and balls.

ok...first things first...no electrostim above the waist is my motto....as well as in the instruction manual of  EVERY manufacturer out there. Yes I know people who do it,and enjoy it,but is it worth  the risk of  maybe disturbing your heart beat(big ole muscle that should do it's own rhythm and NOT be distrubed)? Just not worth the risk of messing with that in my opinion, there are SO many other places to mess with BELOW the waist!!!!!!!.

I own the Erostek 232. Nice machine...different from a tens unit as it is geared for sex. There are 16 different programs loaded into it as well as audible...as in you make noise,it runs a program...or hook up your MP3 player and stim to music vibes. Great toy...more expensive than a tens, but hey it is not like I buy one monthly.  A bike or a car are both considered transportation.A bike will get you places ,but a car gets you there in style and in comfort (or not if you set it on SM geared programs!)

great site for more info on estim in general...www.smartstim.com

Toys are cool,. PES makes some really nice ones, folsom and sextek as well.Gentle reminder...pads or toys used on the outside of the body (vshield or pads) are MUCH more intense than internal toys (anal, vaginal toys). Learned that lesson myself one night as I cranked up the power to midpoint somewhere trying new toys out and nearly had to peel myself from the ceiling as the power gradually increased to "OMG what the hell??????".The Erostek cranks up slowly to the set power, giving you a chance to turn it down if you adjust too high.I always used that setting ,the difference was that the toy I used was an outside stim, not internal. Good lesson,I'd hate to fry some poor subby!

Try to find someone who already has a box,buy a toy or pads and try it out. Then see if you want to own a box. Most people start with a tens unit(under 100 bucks depending on the unit specs) .I  also suggect buying your own toys as these are really intimate items (ie ass stuff,or urethal )and can not be used with condoms. Sharing bacteria is not "good" sharing.

Enjoy...play safe!

A pro-domme in Dallas introduced me to electro at least 10 years ago. She is a fine lady and we have enjoyed many play times together since then. The eros tek devices are the way to go. I have a ET312 as well as a ET302R. Also have a couple of Tens units which I seldom use. Electro for a male ( I don't know about how it feels for a female) can range from torture to pure pleasure and it can cause a Hands Free Orgasm in many men. The sensations are impossible to describe. The ET302R is small, handy and remote controlled. The ET312 is larger, more complex, more expensive and capable of many more varied sensations. My domme has used both on me at the same time with great success. Do not use any of these above the waist. In my opinion no well equipped pro domme will lack these in her arsenal in the near future. The violet wand is a very primitive device compared to them. For more info go to SmartStim.com and register. It is free.

Tens units can feel different depending on the type of contact you have on the skin. A broad based pad can feel like a massage, whereas a pinpoint metal contact can feel like a pinprick. Tens units also have variable controls to adjust the feeling depending on their settings. Higher frequencey settings feel smoother than slower pulse settings, and burst settings feel more intense than pulse or high frequency settings. Keep in mind that when electricity is applied to a nerve continously the nerve doesn't respond as well, so a less intense feeling is appreciated after a few seconds. Modulating settings vary the intensity so the nerve has a moment to recover keeping the feeling more intense with time. You can find a Tens unit at sharperimage.com without a doctor's prescription, and there are alternative Tens units sites if you google search TENS Unit
