Look OP, you're barely out of high school . Who was your favorite teacher? Why were you willing to buckle down and do the work to do well in his class yet being shot at dawn wouldn't have motivated you to do any work in someone else's class? I bet it wasn't about getting a gold star but instead about being treated as a person, someone taking an interest in you, and really believing in you. And for that, you did ten page papers when you were asked for five to seven pages. You did extra credit, you became interested in the subject because your teacher inspired you.

If you want to be a good dominant, figure out how to be an inspiring teacher.

I personally don't need or want "stuff" as a motivator. I'm motivated by a desire/need to be pleasing. I'm motivated to submit and obey because he inspires that by being a good person, a responsible person. He knows that expecting me to do everything around the house would be unrealistic since I also work a full time job.

I know this is a reallllllllly crazy idea [sm=hewah.gif]....but what about being self-motivated. I know I know..It's so wild and out there of a concept and that it may just be totally out-dated in these times but hey..Just wanted to throw it out there.

Yes to this and other varieties of just simple words expressing how pleased he is. Lots of different motivators, depending on what your and your subs bent is.

Hearing "Good girl" is a great motivator for me. Another great motivator is one-on-one time w/ Daddy, whether it's for cuddling or whatever. Good motivators for me are relationship-oriented, not materialistic. But then, I'm internally motivated to please Him anyway.

I create a loving, nurturing environment. At that point, I need really do nothing else. She herself doesn't want to do anything which would disrupt that environment.

Motivation has been both one of the greatest things, and yet one of the most frustrating things in past relationships.

The most powerful moments in my memory are the moments where my life-actions and choices were driven by my Dominant. Not directly always, but often out of love: knowing She would not wish me to buy a bag of chips for example, or knowing She would be pleased that I picked up my apartment. It was a motivation borne out of love, out of knowing, with irrevocable certainty, that She loved me and cared for me... and what choices I made mattered to her.

Yet, in another relationship, a lack of motivation was strong for the same reasons. A lack of intimacy, of touch, the things that reassure me in emotionally knowing that I am Hers... without those things the relationship was... difficult. It was hard to drive myself to serve Her and do things She would want since I didn't know she would really give a damn. Lack of communication, and more importantly a lack of communicable intimacy, really hurt the relationship. It drove me to apathy, and that apathy drove Her away.

I hope that makes sense?
