The lost distinction is that while Sitting Bull who was an American Indian and whose ancestors were 'American' before this land was called America, is that everybody...everybody else born since in America is merely...a Native American.

That isnt a lost distinction, as much as you may wish it to be. Its really a shame we have to have these distinctions... Native American, African American, Japanese American, ect ect ect.

If you dont like the phrase.. Native American... then again, look to your government as they coined the phrase and the Natives accepted that term.

Im always tinkering with mine, now thinking of going back from windows 7 to XP, the speed is horrendous on 7 and I loved my FAST tweaked XP

That's not the only thing that is horrendous on 7.

I had XP pro and compared to that 7 sucks.

But Microsoft is essentially a monopoly so they can afford to shoot themselves in the foot by producing bad products.

I enjoy a couple of things in 7, mostly pretty pretty but the bloat is bloody awful
considering how fast my old computer was running xp and my new faster, double the memory and speed is slower than treacle under 7

Sitting Bull was citizen of the Lakota Nation (note the term Nation) specifically a Lakota Sioux.

I am not sure where Tazzy lives, but around here and where I grew up, people identify with tribe. For example I would not tell someone that, "I am Native American." I would tell them, "I am Wampanoag."

Calling someone a Native American is kind of like calling President Obama an Afro-Eurasian Migrant.

Actually, it doesnt matter. Sitting Bull was an american indian. He was courageous and stood up for what he was promised by a government who changed their minds like the changed their clothes.

I find him someone to admire.
