" In every war there has ultimately at some point been negotiation."

I am sure that is untrue, but what is easily apparent is that most wars have been ended by surrender under terms dictated by the victors. Those terms may or may not have included the most meaningless and perfunctory of negotiations.... but the idea that you cannot kill (I assume "annihilate" was your little euphemism) your way to victory, however pleasant and sweet it may be, is both weak and false.

Of course talking is better. But Islam wants its worldwide caliphate....
And I don't.

Do you always see the events of the past in such a black and white way? No one side doesn't always win mostly both sides lose. One side may come to that realisation quicker than the other is all. Negotiation has saved countless lives, more than any war has.

As for your 'caliphate' comment this just shows you're not even bothering to separate the moderates and the extremists of one religion from one another. The Islamic faith is one of the world's most popular, widespread and practiced religion, deal with it.

The problem with the American psyche is that it's been addicted to wars since the end of world war two, it wasn't always like this and it doesn't have to continue to be like it either.

This paranoid idea that the Islamic faith is going to take over the world is absurd. For one thing most in the west don't have the dedication or regimented lifestyle to be able to follow such a strict religious practice. There are too many lazy people who can't be arsed to attend Mosque or sit down and pray five time a day. Have a word with yourself it's just not going to happen.

"it wasn't always like this and it doesn't have to continue to be like it either"

If you mean there was a time largely without war I never read of it. From the Old Testament to Sun T'zu: "In times of peace the wise man prepares for war". The history of the world is a search for hotter fire and better weapons, and the results of the wars fought with them

War doesn't save lives; I don't think anyone has said that.

There have always been wars but the US hasn't always been eager to involve itself in them.

I, personally, have no problem with a leader facing a problem and looking for brains to pick who have "been there, done that".

The problem isnt picking his brain, its having him carry his water to the press/public. Extremely non-Presidential.

I don't much care for Obama at present, simply because he has acquiesced so readily to the powerless, illegitimate, figurehead the Republicans set out to make him.

You cant make someone something they arent when his record is in plain view.

You can put your own probability of success. what isnt absurd or paranoid is that it IS the goal of Islam, and the lives that have been and will be lost to their attempts at success.

That kind of action would result in global economic consequences for the US besides an additional amount of paranoia over how the Chinese and the Russians would react to such bonkers action.

It's the goal of the John Birch society to take the vote from women and blacks and kill all of the Jews.
Just because somebody has a goal, doesn't mean that there's any likelihood of them achieving it. SL4V hasn't even mentioned that teetotal thing that's going to be an even bigger stumbling block with Islam for most of the western world who are old enough to vote than any of the other ridiculous crap that goes with it...

It's not the goal of Islam alone because Islam is open to many interpretations; being as it is a text, even 'Little red riding hood' is open to interpretation. It may be the goal of certain elements but killing and maiming isn't going to get them what they want. So it's irrelevant the location of our deaths and maiming: here or there. It isn't going to change our thought process, only stupid people think minds can be changed and influenced with violence. Long term change occurs from demonstrating your way of life is more just than that of maiming and killing. People on the whole don't like violence.

I personally thought Obama turning over a Presidential press conference to a former President, and leaving the room for a vapid reason, like a Christmas party is pretty pathetic.

I could see if there was an emergency, or something, but...

Sorry, I have to take back that one ounce of credit I've given Obama.

In the last F1 race the Rose Water had no fizz, a sad spectacle. This way of life is encroaching on our traditions such as pouring alcohol on one another or reclining in the gutter with your face two inches away from lake vomit.

That goal has been stated in the Quran and discussed by myriads of Islamic scholars. It isnt the least bit open to interpretation.

For a moment there I thought you were going to say something Nice about Obama but then I realised there was nothing particularly unique about today.

"the Chinese and the Russians would react to such bonkers action. "

The Saudis would tell them to stay out of it.

Find a legitimate expert on Islam who disputes it.

I could say the opposite, it doesn't prove much one way or the other.

On a personal level the Jehovah's witnesses tend to invade my space more often.
