AN ACTUAL CRAIG'S LIST PERSONALS AD

To the Guy Who Tried to Mug Me in Downtown Savannah night before last.
Date: 2009-05-27, 1:43 a.m. E.S.T.

I was the guy wearing the black Burberry jacket that you demanded that I hand
over, shortly after you pulled the knife on me and my girlfriend, threatening
our lives.

You also asked for my girlfriend's purse and earrings. I can only
hope that you somehow come across this rather important message.

First, I'd like to apologize for your embarrassment; I didn't expect you to
actually crap in your pants when I drew my pistol after you took my jacket. The
evening was not that cold, and I was wearing the jacket for a reason. My
girlfriend had just bought me that Kimber Model 1911 .45 ACP pistol for my
birthday, and we had picked up a shoulder holster for it that very evening.

Obviously you agree that it is a very intimidating weapon when pointed at your
head ... Isn't it?! I know it probably wasn't fun walking back to wherever you'd
come from with that brown sludge in your pants. I'm sure it was even worse walking bare-footed since I made you leave your shoes, cell phone, and wallet with me. [That
prevented you from calling or running to your buddies to come help mug us again].

After I called your mother or "Momma" as you had her listed in your cell, I
explained the entire episode of what you'd done. Then I went and filled up my
gas tank as well as those of four other people in the gas station, -- on your
credit card. The guy with the big motor home took 150 gallons and was extremely
grateful! I gave your shoes to a homeless guy outside Vinnie Van Go Go's, along with all
the cash in your wallet. [That made his day!]

I then threw your wallet into the big pink "pimp mobile" that was parked at the
curb .... After I broke the windshield and side window and keyed the entire
driver's side of the car. Later, I called a bunch of phone sex numbers from your
cell phone. Ma Bell just now shut down the line, although I only used the phone
for a little over a day now, so what 's going on with that?

Earlier, I managed to get in two threatening phone calls to the DA's office
and one to the FBI, while mentioning President Obama as my possible target.
The FBI guy seemed really intense and we had a nice long chat (I guess while he
traced your number etc.).

In a way, perhaps I should apologize for not killing you. But I feel this type of retribution is a far more appropriate punishment for your threatened crime. I wish you well as you
try to sort through some of these rather immediate pressing issues, and can only
hope that you have the opportunity to reflect upon, and perhaps reconsider,
the career path you've chosen to pursue in life.

Remember, next time you might not be so lucky.Have a good day!

Thoughtfully yours,
Alex

P.S. Remember this motto ... An armed society makes for a more civil society!

If you think about it that Florida school board shooting wouldn't have happened if everyone of those board members had been armed. It's only when criminals thinks that you or society are helpless or defenseless when most criminals strike. They don't want to be the victim of their own stupidity.

A felon is not allowed to, either.

Who said, "If we outlaw guns, only outlaws will have them."?

I carry (legally) because I used to ride my Harley 'solo' in rural Nevada and it made perfect sense to be protected against the 'elements'. I still have a permit though, and find this article so interesting!

"Supposed" is right, because I don't believe it.

If it were true, the 'victim' is guilty of more crimes, on the federal level, than the punk.

I think guns do serve a purpose in our society, but shit like this, this belief that owning a gun entitles someone who has been victimized to go hog-wild and break all kinds of laws, and having it proudly come out of the mouths of supposed gun owners, gives me pause. Gun owners are their own worst enemies. They think they are doing something special, and yet, it IS special, in a "did you take the little bus to school"? special.

What?! No one was shot in the Florida school board incident except the one asshole with the gun.

Also, this craislgist ad is a farce.

I carry and have a conceal carry as well, but this hoorah bang 'em up Sarah Palin mentality about guns makes me cringe. They fucking kill people, this isn't a game and we don't live in the wild wild west. If you want to play cops and robbers or vigilante, don't carry a gun if shooting someone sounds  exciting or cool or badass. Get proper instruction, know your weapons and don't watch Denzel Washington movies to get a real idea of what a gun can do. .

Sometimes the mentality of the average person makes me weep for humanity.

I'm pretty sure that Wisconsin and our neighbors to the south, Illinois are the only two states in the country that do not have conceal/carry laws in one form or the other. If there were problems with people carrying legal weapons, you can be sure we would hear about it from the liberal media.

Aynne beat me to posting the snopes.com link so I will add the author was blowing off steam after his house was robbed. The author is irritated at the way it has been reworked to further political agendas.

The Second Amendment is not a political agenda. Also, I always figured it was fiction. Not that it never happened anywhere, but.......

On the lighter side I too frequent crailslist and saw this :

SUB FOR YOUR CAR OR TRUCK

Ya figure you can't even let the sub in the house ? Or wait, maybe he wants to trade his sub for a car or truck.

Thank you for this reply, it made me not hate the entire post.  The OP was humorous, in a fictional sort of way.  I'm an advocate of self-defense, but that doesn't usually require a gun.  Looking a man in the eyes and being able to defend yourself come in handy, too, and they don't get your kid shot in the head when they go for a glass of water at 3am.

Please excuse my grammar, it's late and I'm tired.

Shooting someone is not badass or cool. Shoot someone someday and watch what happens. Think I'm full of shit ? Go out and shoot someone, do it. Look at what happens to them, and see if you can live with it. The guy stole your purse with only like $100 in it. Now he is laying there with half his neck shot off, bleeding and dying, choking on his own blood.

I don't care that this is the humor section right now. Shooting people is not a joke. I have been shot. People have no conception, most are like children and think it is the same as a video game. It is not. But some people have to die.

And before you even think of packing a gun, think that it means life. You shoot when it is him or you. Somebody steals your car you don't go shooting down the street. If someone robbed you you don't shoot them as they're running out the door ( unless they stole one of your guns, a friend of mine had to do that ). You shoot when your life is in danger. If you think your fucking junk is worth more than a human life you have no business packing.

And responsibility is important, I only pack a regular .38, not even a magnum. It's got wadcutters in it. I had an assault rifle, but I traded it off because it is foolish to shoot it in the city. The bullet could pass right through the assailant and a wall, another wall, who knows and kill somebody on the next street. This is unacceptable. What's more, once exiting your house through the wall(s), it is then deformed and MORE dangerous to an innocent bystander than it was to the criminal !

I think just about everybody should be armed, and know what they're doing. The supposed craigslist ad is a dupe, so what. It does bring the subject up, what would you do ? If it were true and I was that person, there would be no ad, no assailant (anymore) and if I can help it, nothing else. I'd drag the corpse out to the curb. They'll pick up almost anything here.

I'd like to ask a question here but I won't. I'll type it but I don't want an answer because I don't want to give an answer. Have you ever shot anyone ? Have you killed anyone ? Like I said, don't answer that. But the fact is most people can't live with themselves afterwards. It bruises your psyche in a way nothing else does.

This is not peculiar to guns either. Knives, hammers, cool things like that, they work just fine in applying deadly force. I wonder what the guy who shot me a long time ago would think now, if I showed him a video of me gasping for breath, bleeding into my windpipe and quite a bit more than a quart low on blood.

That was a long time ago, he might have grandchildren by now. What would he think today. He was never caught, but if he can feel guilt, it'll hit him one day. And he'll never find me, never able to make even the smallest of token amends. How is that going to fuck with him when he lays on his deathbed ?

This is no joke, but some think it is. Don't worry, I'll shoot them.

Just a quick question from someone who lives in a society where the possession of guns is highly controlled.....how many people have been killed in the US in the last year  by guns in the hands of so called responsible civillians?

I did a quick google search about gun deaths and most of the sites I came up with seem to have an obvious anti-gun bias to them, so I'm not sure it's fair to include them.

But Wikipedia, which at least tries to be non-biased, says that:

quote:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimated 52,447 deliberate and 23,237 accidental non-fatal gunshot injuries in the United States during 2000.[4] The majority of gun-related deaths in the United States are suicides,[5] with firearms used in 16,907 suicides in the United States during 2004.....

For violent crimes (assault, robbery, and rape), guns were used 0.83% of the time in self-defense....Of all incidents where a gun was used for self-defense, victims shot at the offender 28% of the time.[60] In 20% of the self-defense incidents, the guns were used by police officers.

Also, a University of Utah site says:

quote:

A study of 626 shootings in or around a residence in three U.S. cities revealed that, for every time a gun in the home was used in a self-defense or legally justifiable shooting, there were four unintentional shootings, seven criminal assaults or homicides, and 11 attempted or completed suicides.... In another study, regardless of storage practice, type of gun, or number of firearms in the home, having a gun in the home was associated with an increased risk of firearm homicide and suicide in the home (Dahlberg, Ikeda and Kresnow, 2004)

So it sounds like not a whole lot of those responsible non-criminal citizens shoot someone in self-defense, but a good number of them shoot themselves or accidently shoot somebody. I also couldn't find any stats about people that started out as responsible non-criminal gun owners who then went and committed a homicide, they're just lumped in with the rest of the homicides.

Not sure if that helps.

If this were a true story, then the punk would probably have stolen the wallet and cell phone. So mister badass would only be victimizing the original theft victim again. Whlie he had his gun on the punk, he should have walked him to the closest police station.

But, to end this on a lighter note, here is an Archie Bunker answer for susan: Would it make you feel any better, little goil, if they was pushed out a winda?

Let's see......and we can believe everythng snopes.com has on it's web site? My profession is in research. I learned my first year out of grad school never....and I do mean never.... accept anything in print unless peer reviewed sources are cited. Snopes says "The man"......might as well say "They say" Who the hell is the man and who the hell is they. Not saying the "supposed craiglist ad" is valid either....but let's not rush to crown snopes.com the towncrier of truth either.
