I'd say most nilla people have tied people to the bed and they wouldn't consider that BDSM or kinky but just spicing it up somewhat. I think it's a bit of a myth that vanilla people only have sex in the dark and in the missionary position ;)

I'll be the first to admit it, I got completely lost with all the "so-called"'s. That little diatribe about dominants and submissives was more confusing than a TIVO instruction booklet written in Swahili.

The journal entry cracks me the fuck up... because I'm SadoMaso. What LadyC posted resonates well with me. The bit about having a high pain tolerance and test driving things out (ditto on that for me). Different types of pain on different parts of the body, a wider contrast of sensations to work with. My sadist side is just one of many facets to who and what I am as a human being (regardless of labels or titles). It's rather amusing to read broad stroke generalizations by another person on this site, when they have no idea in hell the paths that other people have walked or are walking in life. ie, Where they expect All Dominants or submissives to jump into and fit nice into some stereotype box...they've opened up and placed on the floor... (Everybody please jump into your appropriate pre-labeled box, so we can close and seal the damn things up and put an end to the differences and debates).

I readily admit CBT was never anything I could test drive myself on me ;) Actually I don't think I'm maso (unless you count martial arts and some of the people I work with as a sign for being a maso) but my other half recently started a conversation with "Do you think you're a sadist because you have such a high pain tolerance?" It has nothing to do with being tough or anything, it's just my nervous system and pain receptors are possibly differently wired, some things I just don't feel that much or they don't feel as painful. I don't enjoy pain (unless it's sore muscles and going over that pain threshold when it comes to sports - but more to get to that place where you get the high from endorphins) and I consider it a weird quirk that I don't feel it that acute (apart from dentists and needles - any attempt to take blood... As bad luck has it I am 0 neg, so it's more or less my duty to give blood, but usually accompanied by a faint), but one of my best friends in NYC is also a sadist and she's the same, incredibly high pain tolerance... For me the whole thing about test driving is more of a curiosity how some new implement does feel, and I can't say "You got to take <x amount> of strokes/lashes/shocks" and I don't even have the slightest clue how it feels myself.

However, your characterisations of the dominant don't match with any that I have met and could not be further from the truth in terms of any traits attributable to my Master. If that has been your only experience, then I think your selection perameters may be off base. Best wishing in finding what you seek once you determine what that is.

Just two - and no variation within those two. You clearly defined them. And you removed your post with a scant few minutes without any further information or explanation of what we supposedly missed, instead jumping to insults. The fact that you attempted to remove your words almost immediately upon being questioned and must resort to insults without even trying to back up/defend/explain says a great deal.
