I hope you don't think they are righties.

I am surprised, with all the hate and unbalanced souls, no one has targeted this hate group.

Maybe there is a Devil

Butch

I don't think the respectable end of either wing wants much to do with them, which is hardly surprising.
The gay bashing stuff the twats are best known for strikes most as more conservative than liberal, though, I'm afraid.

True conservatives are no more likely to bash gays or anyone else then you... part of the problem in this world are people making assumptions about a group because of the actions of a few...Believe me there are liberal gay bashers as well.

Become part of the solution and stop assigning labels…this thread is proof of the results of this way of thinking.

Looks like we have a press conference coming up about the 40-50 year old "person of interest," the cops are looking for.

Quick. Find his picture online, and post whether he looks like a Tea-type Svengali!

So is that an admission that all of this "vote with a gun"/"target the liberals" bullshit elements of the right leaning media have been spouting since the Kenyan was elected has something to do with this happening?

What's your reaction going to be if it turns out that he's uncut?

When you have angry, fringe, hate group members viewing politican's posters with targets and cross-hairs, it certainly doesn't help and definitely belongs as part of the entire discussion of what is going on.

And you are no better then they...can you not see the irony here? If you want to trash their actions then should you not trash your own?

Would not a solution to this problem be to tone down the rhetoric... theirs and yours?

Such a terrible tragedy. What concerns me is the quality of life Gabrielle Giffords will have if she survives. Hopefully, she fully recovers. Not sure I'd want to survive if I was shot in the head. The shooter may be crazy, but if he's sane enough to attend college and get on the internet, he's sane enough to know better than to commit such a horrible crime. He deserves no leniency.

I think there is no doubt that people of all political persuasions need to realize the political climate they have encouraged over the last few decades has polarized this country and made true progress next to impossible.

There needs to be difference in ideologies to insure good government but the job of these two opposing ideologies is to find common ground and work together for the betterment of the society.

We need to find ways to work together rather then ways to separate, label, and classify.

Butch

ps...sorry defiantbadgirl my post was to all in general not just you

Now all the politicians are joining hands and singing Kumabaya.  After they've been getting more and more bitterly partisan.  Like Victor Frankenstein realizing he made a monster.  AFTER he created it: http://www.cnn.com/2011/POLITICS/01/09/arizona.shooting.rhetoric/index.html?hpt=T2

ANYone that thinks, constant words alluding to violent actions do not have an impact of the human conscious at some level, is a fool.

John Lennon was shot by some nut who read "Catcher In The Rye" to many times and wanted to be famous. Just last month several shows aired that highlighted that whole event all over again. President Reagan was shot by some nut wanting to impress Jodie Foster. Painting yesterday's events as some sort of right wing influenced political assassination attempt as this juncture isn't any better than the speech you blame it on. It's irresponsible at best and moronic at worst.

The shooter may be crazy, but if he's sane enough to attend college and get on the internet, he's sane enough to know better than to commit such a horrible crime.

Actually he's a high school dropout, was rejected by the Army, took some community college classes, but withdrew after he came to the attention of the police because of his disruptive behavior, and was warned by the college that he could not return until he presented, "a doctor's note stating that 'his presence at the College does not present a danger to himself or others.'"

Other than that, I agree with you. I hope they throw away the key.

K.

That expulsion from the local CC until after a mental health evaluation should have been a great big red flag, Kirata.

As the investigation moves forward, I'd like to know a bit more about the parents, and the home this kid came out of.

The expulsion should have been a red flag to whom?? Who aside from family and friends could be in a position to evaluate and try to get help for this guy?

I don't want a nanny state, but when one buys a gun, one self reports that they are free of mental defect. Most mentally unstable people are unaware that they ARE unstable.

I read the shooter's "Final Thoughts" posting. Someone should have gotten him help.

I believe he is still responsible for his actions.

Rich, the red flags are all over.  HS dropout, who got kicked out of CC for disruptive behavior, still living at home at 22 - he sounds antisocial and I suspect he's not able to hold down a job.  Weird fixations on stuff like literacy rates, and likely delusions of grandeur - note how the little twit said that Giffords was not very bright, and that the local literacy rate was 5%.

You really don't have faith in the highlighted above, do you?  Heck, we've had our own share of nutters and sociopaths right here on these forums.  Just because somebody is on the net doesn't mean they are right in the head.
