I have a need to be creative and it just so happens that my needs are very difficult to explore. My most recent desire is to paint a dildo. I don't want to dye it, I want to literally sit down and paint the bastard! Problem is I am not sure how- or what is safe to use- when I do this. Ideally I'd like to purchase one of those 'clone your willy' kits and explore with that first. I have a few good tutorials on how to actually make a dildo...I just need verification of safe materials (liquid PVC from the store?). It figures I'd want to do this, but I'm obsessed with it now, just like I was obsessed with finding pink bdsm gear, unicorn pony gear, and how to rig my own buttplug with clip on tails and such. Oy.

In a nutshell:
- What are safe materials I can use to paint onto a dildo?
- What are safe materials I can use to make my own dildo?

PLEASE HALP!

TheGaggingWh0re The clone a willy kits should be ok, and anything food grade safe should be ok, though I won't speak to those materials, not knowing anything about that, maybe you could make it out of sculpty clay, fire it an then always use a condom.

Thanks hun! The clone your willy kit has had my eye for some time. I have read and read and read and read and am sure those are 100% safe! My only problem then becomes if I want to mold something unusual for a novelty toy that doesn't quite fit or if I want to create an original mold of my own. I want to know what kind of material I can put in there...unless I can just buy the willy kits wholesale and use their material in a mold? Pain in the butt (or not, har har), but I'm willing to go there if that is what it takes!

I desperately want to paint one different colors. Like if I want a christmas tree inspired shape, I want to be able to put greens and reds and all sorts of colors on that bad boy before I put it to work!....safely.

LOL, I love it I decorated the kitchen with roosters and Master rolled his eyes and said it figures I'd decorate with cocks! Do the dildos have to be usable after or could they just be art. Hey I can see it now- it could be the new craze like the pet rocks- pet cocks

What about painting it with liquid latex?  The latex would eventually peel off and need to be retouched, but it should be safe enough if you cover the paint job with a condom.

LMFAO. A kitchen full of cocks, I love it ;P Yes, I prefer they be useable! I work as an adult entertainer and am always on the hunt for something unique or unusual that sets me apart. I love themed performances like on halloween I'd love nothing more than to dress everything up and have a zombie dildo or something like that available. I have found already-made produce inspired sex toys that made me giggle and a few theme-inspired toys, but my imagination goes beyond what I can find. The caterpillar vibe is mad cute, though! ;P

I have considered the liquid latex! I was turned off by how it flakes, though. Toys on the market are decorated with SOMTHING that isn't flaking and it is my goal to find out what the crafty bastards are using so that I, too, may use it. I would cover with a condom if this was the absolute end-all in options, I just hate the way condoms feel.

You could maybe make a glass mold for dildo's they do make pyrex glass dildo's that are really neat, and they make mettle dildo's, so maybe you could do that, if you have the ability to melt down the stuff safely or something?

Find out what CAWK are using an then if it's something you can easily get, like say plaster of paris, for a totally bad example,  or organic clay, then just keep the CAWK mold if one was provided, and then supply your own POP or Clay.

I unfortunately lack the equipment for glass molds ;P
As far as the CAWK goes (Or is it calk? I dunno, maybe I'm thinking of something different) I have read that there is some store bought versions, but on a few other websites there were warnings against some of these because they sweat toxic chemicals. However, no one has mentioned what types are ok if there are any. I can't imagine why something like liquid PVC would be out of the question. My plugs are made of PVC. The only reasonable explaination I can think of is the different chemical properties.

But yes, the advice you have is one of the questions I am posing! I am hoping to find what types of materials are safe from my fellow kinksters! :)

if you want to paint it and use it again, it depends greatly on the material that the didlo is made of, anything with major flex to it will need a flexi primmer before any paint will stick. if its pretty firl and made of pvc or phb and you intend the paint to stay on permenantly and still use it, omly a urethane based paint will stay on. if you dont want to get into the expense of pricey felexable primers, I might sugjest Krylon fusion brand spray paint to use as a basecoat, then you could do artwork with artist acylics even sharpie markers and then Krylon Crystal clear over it all. I would allow 4 weeks for all the propelants and distilants to 'gas out'

Thanks! I am looking for more than just pouring it in. I actually want to hand paint for details like eyes, different colors on different portions (like ornaments on a tree, for example), etc. I was under the impression from various websites that silicone comes in different chemical mixtures and can actually sweat toxins. Do you have any experience with store-grade silicone? Is it safe? I believe I have seen different colors, I am just very cautious! I have also read that food-grade silicone is an option.

Hmm..not sure. I just wish to not destroy my bits with toxins if I can help it!

Clone a willy kits, further known from now on in this thread as CAWK, says there kits are made with soft rubber, and I have heard that rubber has pthalates, which off gas and are toxic for you, and can cause burning alergic reactions to the mucous membrains, but I don't know. I really don't th know if  the materials that CAWK's use, would sweat toc cheimcals or not.  I think rubber would. After all rubber toys from stores that are premade and packaged apparently do.

Medical grade silicone toys you can buy from sex shops prefabbed already, supposedly do not leach their toxic pthalates no.

Don't. 'Paint' is EXTERNAL USE ONLY! And for CHRISSAKE don't use 'primers' and spray-ons and urethanes: they will FLAKE, CUT and LODGE IN YOUR RECTUM.
Artistic expression is fine, if your performance art includes the fees for the doctor's time, exasperation and money to put you under a general anaesthetic to pick pretty shards out of your lacerated bowel, or pull a hunk of wax/plastic/silcone out of your ass.

Safety first!
For internal use, buy a dildo that you can ATTACH something to the 'handle end', or put a crazy glow-in-the-dark condom on it.
Then buy another dildo, paint it to your heart's content, and exhibit it on your desk at work as art.

Otherwise, I look forward to another fascinating entry in the Darwin Awards.

acrylic urathane will flake off of rubber with flex, but will not flake off a plastic pvc or phb, although if you were going to use it I would still use a condom

I'll look into the flexi primer, but I am hesitant to use any actual paint. What if I don't do the primer correctly? Let me post an unusual dildo that is safe for internal use. It says it is made from silicone, but will just any silicone do? This is where I am mixed.

http://necronomicox.com/ = weird dildos, but creative!

Have you had experience with any of the suggestions you listed or know someone who did? Or can you link me to the place where you got this information so I can read up on it more? Thanks! ;P

oops that is supposed to be leach toxins, not leach their toxins. Medical grade silicone isn't supposed to have those softener Pthalates, so there's no pthalate related chemical to leach.
