Yippee - a hissy fit.   [sm=tantrum.gif]

I am a bad person - I love to see hissy fits.

hissssssssssssy hisssssssssssy hissssssssssssssy

you know you hate me :)

my HRC sweatshirt is turning to threads, dammit... go beat their asses for me, will you?

Kinda on topic:
the real pros already list as such.

The scammers/etc do the bait and switch stuff if they arent already obvious as scammers.

There is no way to reasonably 'separate' them.

Get a clue, or lock up your bank book so that you have no access without adult supervision.

QueenStWest -> RE: Why have pro and lifestyle mixed together? (2/4/2011 9:04:06 AM)

Why not start with letting profiles that have email addresses get flagged?  Anyone with an address in their profile is clearly advertising?  By the way, who is OP, and why do you think I know him?

LadyPact -> RE: Why have pro and lifestyle mixed together? (2/4/2011 9:24:23 AM)

So, what you're saying is, it's fair to flag someone because they list an email address?

Somebody had better tell all of those males who include theirs.

Hmmmm.  That means we'd have two different standards for men and women, doesn't it?

Guilty of being a pro until proven innocent.  (No real way to prove yourself innocent either.)

I must have missed the part that said it's cool to treat women in a different way than men.

DarkSteven -> RE: Why have pro and lifestyle mixed together? (2/4/2011 9:28:25 AM)

OP is short for Original Poster, to whom you bear a suspicious resemblance.

Eliminating profiles with email addresses is an interesting idea. But you have to understand that this is a game of whack-a-mole - whenever the unpaid admins try anything, the legions of scam artists try something else. The admins cannot keep up, so they're forced to rely on users' good judgment.

QueenStWest -> RE: Why have pro and lifestyle mixed together? (2/4/2011 9:41:42 AM)

LOL, you guys are funny.  The first guy was from Canada too, so I resemble him LOL LOL.  It is always fun when we Canadians go to the US and you folk say "Your from Canada, do you know Bob Jones?" LOL

I said anyone with their email (male, female, TS, TG or some new life from you will come up with to discredit my suggestion) is clearly trolling.  Trolling is disrespectful.

LadyPact -> RE: Why have pro and lifestyle mixed together? (2/4/2011 9:54:53 AM)

Actually, that's not what you said.  You said they were clearly advertising and should be flagged.

Part of this has Me wondering exactly who would be so full of themselves to decide what is ok to put in a profile or not.  The site owners have certain restrictions on things that can be discussed under the terms of TOS, but the rest of us here are just guests.  None of us better or worse than anybody else and all with the same privileges of being here.

If you consider trolling disrespectful, more power to you.  Avoid those people.  Which is kind of what folks suggested the OP do about those who might want to make a buck off of him to begin with.

QueenStWest -> RE: Why have pro and lifestyle mixed together? (2/4/2011 10:05:23 AM)

I guess at your grocer when you go to buy apples they are mixed in with the oranges and you have no problem sorting through them.  Do you get around with a horse and buggy to.  Hello, it is 2011 and you may have not noticed the trend, it is all about pinpoint targeted marketing.  Why does this site separate dom from sub then?  Real Pro should "volenteer" to be in the pro catagory, and if they wish to have a nonpro profile then that is great too, but it should be a second one so as not to confuse those lines.  We all know the game many play, I am non pro to start but will in time once you are engaged morph into pro, or pro for the first session only.  You can't suck and blow at the same time.

PeonForHer -> RE: Why have pro and lifestyle mixed together? (2/4/2011 10:06:27 AM)

Right, after 84 posts, I thought it might just be time to change tack.

I shall focus on this . . .

Try investing time, energy and emotion into someone

Yes. I hear you. I *do* think that this contributes to the particular kind of bitterness that males, especially, feel, and most of all when they're new to CM. Those "pro-dommes disguised as lifestylers" on whom one has sent careful, time and energy consuming cmails, will add to that bitterness enormously. Luckily, these *are* generally easy to spot after a short while.

I'm going to adapt a post I put on another thread. It refers to a conclusion that I came to using a different website in the past:

. . . [Women at CM] get a lot of messages, the large bulk of which will be waste-of-time 'wankmails' (as they've come to be known). These are short, stupid, pointless or even nasty mails that look more like bits of graffiti than anything else. They make women's private messaging here a miserable, depressing experience in a way that it's impossible really to understand till you've seen it.

Me, my attitude is to treat my first message to a woman much like the first bit of conversation you might have at a party or at the bar. It's not a lot more than the written equivalent of a friendly nod and 'hello'. Just a few lines, saying something friendly and which shows that you've read her profile (something the senders of wankmail never do). Connect well, but connect lightly and briefly. And then leave it at that.

In other words, don't invest too little, but don't invest too much, either. 'Short and sweet' is my advice . . . .

QueenStWest -> RE: Why have pro and lifestyle mixed together? (2/4/2011 10:14:03 AM)

Plenty of fish allows users to restrict those short meaningless emails, but I am not sure I agree with that either.  I usually just smile, like I would at a party.  They have a chance then to check out my profile (depending on what state I have it) and go from there.

When I go to the store, if I want to buy apples, I look for a fruit that is specifically an apple.  If I close My eyes when I'm shopping and just blindly pick up the first fruit that brushes My fingertips, is that fault Mine or the store's?

It's Mine.  Just the same as it would be My fault for getting the wrong fruit if I didn't know what one looked like.  The store doesn't have to hold My hand, walk Me down the isle, and make sure I don't look at oranges when I might want apples.

We actually don't "separate" Doms and subs.  Those are things that people selectively add to their own profile.  Nobody else comes along and says, "well, you're not much of a Dom, so I'm putting a mark on your profile that says you're a sub."  Just as easily, somebody who is single that somebody else has the impression that they are married, so they get to change that designation for other people.  How about "you're not really kinky because you don't play as hard as I do, so I'm going to mark you're profile that you're really vanilla?"

QueenStWest -> RE: Why have pro and lifestyle mixed together? (2/4/2011 10:28:41 AM)

What if you want to buy organic apples and you cant tell by looking at them?

LadyPact -> RE: Why have pro and lifestyle mixed together? (2/4/2011 10:39:34 AM)

Even if I did, I can pretty much bet that I could still tell the difference from an orange,  LOL.

The better question is, do you really want other people who do not know you intimately to be able to define you in a way that you don't like?  Perhaps don't deserve?  Maybe doesn't agree with your personal values?  Would you really want to be a member of a site that allows people to start rumors about others?

I don't.  I bet there are a lot of lifestyle Dommes who wouldn't like it, either.

DarkSteven -> RE: Why have pro and lifestyle mixed together? (2/4/2011 11:08:27 AM)

QueenStWest, I'm not following your reference to pinpoint targeted marketing. Under that, the marketer does exhaustive work to ensure that his target audience will be receptive.

Are you complaining about the fact that the scammers aren't that selective? If so, I disagree. They use pics of beautiful women and profiles that are written to not exclude any possible matches. If the Domme profiles are like the femsub profiles, they also focus on kink and ignore the service aspects.

I can spot most scam profiles almost instantly. Comes with time.

Actually, LadyPact, I am currently in discussions with the site administrators to have a requirement that all wimmins' profiles include the phrase "I am the collared property of DarkSteven." or be banned from the site.  The admins are putting up a bit of resistance to the idea, which I attribute to the fact that most of them are female and inclined to jealousy.

So why is that an issue then??? If you consider everyone who displayes his/her email as a troll, then you probably know to avoid it, or not? [8|]

Quite frankly, I am way more concerned about the trolls who aren't as obvious as the ones you consider to be obvious [8|]

Maybe you have to increase your offer to buy this page a fair bit higher that they would be going to do that [:)]

What does VAA call it?  Multiple personality posting disorder?

Considering that we are talking about people that can speak, I'd e-mail the apple and ask if it was organic.

I didn't realize that the people on CM are so idiotic that they can't answer an e-mail about their orientation. I've always been rather capable of pecking out the letters on my keyboard to form words.

Of course, they could lie. But if they lie, they'll like on their profile too so it really doesn't make a damn bit of difference. I have to be an adult and make the best decision I can.

It is suspicious that I have met a lot of kinky females from that site. There's a conspiracy against me, I'm a victim.

You can come over here and be my victim.  *evil leering sadistic grin*  Anyone else want in on this conspiracy?
