This is the real reason I oppose apathy in the face of sexism. The country has taken a real hit with the conservative agenda.

With no malice, sarcasm and 100% no disrespect to you Vendaval, this is not "new" news. I have been railing, cajoling, bitching and complaining for almost 6 years about this on every forum, newspaper, letters to congress, political blogs etc, to no avail. Most of this should have been "well known" before the last election, if people/voters would just pay attention. Sometimes you feel like crying in that you're screaming for others to wake up and listen and its like the world is wearing their iPOD headphones cranked up and just passes you by. Even the mainstream news and mags like the one you referanced are months or years behind. It just blows my mind that {A} they have the gall to do this and {B} no one really seems to care. It's really like in so many ways we are (women) being pushed back into the status of second class citizens while they bellow from the mountain top, the rostrum-podium-pulpit about "family values" being number one priority.

I understand and hear you well, Sister. The Regilous Right (which is neither) has
manipulated and deceived and lied and spread hatred in the name of God/Christ
the Church. I try hard not to despair, even after the last elections.

The word "New" in the title is simply from the title of the magazine article.

And I am of the firm opinion that the current political model is "Bread and Circuses"
for the masses, keeping them ignorant and obsessed with mindless entertainment
prevents political involvement and activism.

I agree! and I've also been writing, signing petitions etc to try and roll this back. Unfortnately right now the country is caught up in a resurgence of religion and its having a negative effect as far a women are concerned.

Let's face it in most male dominated religions we ARE second class citizens whom they wish to control anyway they can. They try to brainwash us into believing we are ALL submissive by nature or that God wants us to be that way so we can get into *heaven*. Its bullcrap, utter and total bullcrap.

I keep saying if the young women of today don't stand up for their rights they are going to loose every single one and be pushed back into the 1950's era. You can't win a war sitting on your laurels, you gotta stand up and fight for the freedoms/rights that you believe in.

Abortion is about to go out the window as an alternative and the *family way* is being shoved down our throats. I saw a book the other day, I think it was called "What women really want." It was all about home, family and children and how women are supposedly happier doing the family thing versus a career. Well I hate to tell the author but thats NOT what all women want.

Sorry Ive gone on a rant, this subject really bugs the shit out of me and I feel very passionate about it. I am a woman NOT a second class citizen, not a slave and not some man's whipping dog.

Please, you should never apologize for ranting on a topic that should be pissing everyone with half a brain off. What we need to more people to rant even louder until we get results.
